Why isn't Kerry holding press conferences?

I know this article comes from the right-wing Washington Times, but I have heard this claim made elsewhere. Why isn't Kerry holding press conferences? I know there are risks, but I think the publicity is worth more than the risks. Your thoughts?

DES MOINES, Iowa — Today marks the one-month point since Sen. John Kerry last answered questions from reporters traveling with him on the campaign trail.
The last time the Democratic presidential nominee took questions from them was Aug. 9 on the edge of the Grand Canyon, when the small traveling press pool accompanying him was allowed to ask eight questions.
And the last time Mr. Kerry held a full-fledged press conference where he faced questions from the entire corps of national reporters covering his campaign was Aug. 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich. He took two questions then.

That's the best and only way to get his message out directly to voters. The media will be forced to cover them.

Also had this thing called the RNC at the end of August when Kerry took a vacation from campaigning.

Once a month does not equal 1 every 30 days.

3. Probably because the press will ask him quetions like

"Senator Kerry, why do you hate America?"

"Senator Kerry, why are you being so mean to widdle Georgie?"

"Senator Kerry, explain why the terrorists will kill us all if you are elected."

Oh, and a followup question, "How come Smirk is such a hero and you shot yourself in 'Nam?"


Just a guess as to why Kerry's been avoiding the asshole reporters.

So it's been 30 days. So what? September isn't over yet. He's not afraid of anything like this, but the Moonies sure as hell are motivated to suggest that he is.

Why does Bush just stare at reporters who ask difficult questions?

Still doesn't explain why our president, our commander in chief won't hold a news conference. What does Bush have to hide. Why won't he answer any questions about his past service, about his drug use, about his buyoff to get into the guard, about his shirking of duty at a time when hundreds were dying in Vietnam?
