Who picks up the tab for Bush campaign Stops?
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 05:32 PM by thatgirl
Shrub was in my area today. His motorcade and departure held me up for about an hour and a half, as roads were blocked, detours were crowded and I had to pass by the Navy base he where he parked his Helicopters.

Anyway, I noticed police cars from townships as far as 15 miles away. Who pays for this ? One township, about 11 miles away had five cars present. Great day to rob a bank in Upper Gywnedd.

Do local tax payers foot the bill for this?

4. The cities do!
The city of Portland, OR has sent bills to both parties for campaign stops many times over the past years, all of which are summarily dismissed.

It's a terrible problem for cash strapped cities to have to pay for post-9/11 level security for campaign stops.

Both parties, quite frankly, just don't give a shit. We should be honored to have the candidates visit, and should be willing to pay for the privelege.

Yay!

5. The cities (and their taxpayers) get to pay for the police services
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 06:27 PM by ocelot
and we get to pay for the rest of it. It costs about $40K an hour to operate Air Force One, which * uses as his personal taxi service. On our tab, of course.

6. We are

He is supposed to pay for all cost relating to a campaign stop. What they like to do is schedule the campaign speech on the same day he is "scheduled" to be in the same city. I also love how we pay for his ten thousand dollar suits, nothing else we could be spending that money on besides some pompous asses clothing.

10. and want to get even more angry?
If you go to www.gadflyer.com and click on "Pay to Play" you will find an article on this very subject....We, as American taxpayers can't get into these private, political rallies to see our American president, but we have to pay for them.

Also, consider the website, www.whitehouse.gov. It is supposed to be a GOVERNMENT website, for ALL citizens to learn about the white house and the position of president. If you look on the 2nd page of that website, you will find CAMPAIGN speeches by bush and cheney. So much for non-partisan government websites. I am using this website to teach my students about government sponsored propaganda.
