How do we account for Bush's lead in the polls?
Is he going downhill. It worries me that many people think that Bush will win. Even the Zogby poll has Bush ahead.

2. Karl Rove
He's a dirty trickster from way back. No doubt he's monitoring this site right now to see how panicked we get. He's hoping we'll all cry "We're doomed!" and stop our work.

6. simple
The media is behind Bush. They baby him every step of the way. They manipulate and filter the news to make Bush look "normal".

The media is the enemy

7. The polls are tools of the same people who will benefit
the most by the excessively expensive campaigns.

10. In August Kerry spent very little on ads, but he did visit many
towns. The Swift Boat Liars for Truth were given so much coverage by our "liberal" press that people were swayed. Once again if this idiot wins the election, he has done it by deception and lies. It is the only way he can win. The Republican Convention was purposely an attack Kerry phenomenon. Put these all together and you can understand the Bush bump. There is time, but Kerry will still get miserable press coverage so it is up to us in the grassroots to help pull this out.

And Republicans have the advantage in that their tactic is to treat voters like idiots.

14. Small sample groups. And manipulation.
The polls get more accurate as the sample size goes up. The only accurate poll being the election itself.

I'll just say that those who voted for Gore will be voting for Kerry. If that isn't comforting, then nothing is.

16. well, take a look at this thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x778731

and it doesn't take rocket scientists to figure how polls are now shamelessly manipulated by the media per orders probably from Rove et al. :-(

18. McCain
I suppose some changed their mind based on the Swifties or the Nuremberg Rally in New York, but I think the endorsement of McCain legitimized the insanity of the Bush campaign and reassured many reluctant independents that, in spite of their reservations, it would be unpatriotic not to keep marching in step. When the dam breaks, it's difficult to hold back the flood.
