ALL the negative stuff backfired. No Bradley Effect. No PUMAs
You could never be sure how it would go until we saw the final results. But looking over the final numbers and the demographics, I think its clear that all of the negative stuff and all of the smears backfield on the GOP.

Obama did better than democrats usually do among white voters, even while "working class" males. Obama got more of the Jewish vote than Kerry. The final poll average had Obama up 7.5%, and the final numbers had him winning 53-46%...No Bradley effect.

I take a smug satisfaction in all of that, after seeing how ugly things got over the course of the general election, especially on the internet and talk radio. In fact, I would argue that the stupid fear-monger, hate-mongers and RW loons that were spreading these lies, misinformation and smears seriously hurt McCain's chances at winning this thing. They succeeded in making many people, on both sides, believe that they were having an impact on the election. I think it only made likely Obama supporters MORE concerned about the outcome and MORE dedicated to making sure they got out and voted.

It would be nice if they learned their lesson and dissapeared forever, never again to try these backwards tactics, but you know they'll be back in a few years to do it again.
