Rove's tactic - Take his candidate's weakness and make it the opponent's
I noticed today that this seems to be the underlying theme among all fronts. Think of Bush's weaknesses: AWOL, flip-flopper, subject to foreign influence, weak and wishy-washy. They have turned all those on Kerry. The effect of this is that when the Kerry campaign attacks shrub on these issues, it has less effect. But the truth is...Bush flip-flops more than Kerry, Bush is influenced by the Saudis, Bush is a coward who will only speak in a "set up," friendly environment.

The more people that know that this is a Rove tactic, the less suceptible they are to his distortions of reality. Every attack that has been made on Kerry can be turned around on Bush twofold. When arguing with freepers, all you need to do is say "this is a common Rove tactic" and turn the argument around on them. And that's what we should be doing...on the cable news shows, the classrooms, the water coolers, and in the streets.

P.S. This is why the "bully" argument works so well...bullies project weaknesses of their own onto others.

1. Exactly! This method of projection was pretty well
covered in 'Bush on the Couch'.

4. bringing Rove's name into it helps also - many people don't know
of his influence. I wish Bush's Brain was showing in every state.

5. I've noticed that too
They've been doing it for a while. They knew * was weak on VN so they flame Kerry's honorable service. They know they are weak on the economy, they make Kerry the culprit somehow. The Iraq colonization isn't going too well, well Kerry voted against a $money$ givaway so it's his fault. If nothing else, their future smears should be highly predictable.

6. Ah, but with weaknesses of *, just where would you start?
I mean, really, where would you begin?

Should we claim that * is the best president since Herbert Hoover? Do we claim that his care for the poor far surpasses that of FDR?
Do we state that his decisiveness to wage war puts Harry Truman's decision to drop the bomb pale in comparison?

Is this what you're suggesting?

10. Haha - that's what I was thinking too...
I was like "Kerry should reverse this strategy on Bush!" But then I realized Kerry really has no weaknesses!

7. Bingo.
We've all been so angry at them for accusing Kerry of things that we know to be false, and more descriptive of Bush. Your thesis is on target. Your suggestion that we use the "this is a common Rove tactic" is brilliant. Thanks JohnnyC. :wow:

8. I also say that Bush's faults are seeping into the Rovian subconcious
and inspiring the anti Kerry slanders. To us, its just irony. To pubbies, its red meat. Amzing.
