"Listen, any hopeful society has a growing economy, and I've got a plan...
Bush warns of "hidden Kerry tax plan"

http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2004/09/09/kerry_tax/index.html

The Republican incumbent argued that Kerry would dramatically increase government spending, but did not mention that on his own watch, federal spending has mushroomed at the fastest pace in a decade, fueled by war and a surge in non-defense spending.

"One of my opponent's key economic advisers is saying they won't give the details on how they would raise spending and lower the deficit until after the election," Bush said. "Well, if they want to hold back information until the people vote, you can bet it won't be good news for the taxpayers," Bush said. "But America will reject the hidden Kerry tax plan."

Kerry would pay for new proposals by "cutting corporate welfare like overpayments to HMOs, eliminating wasteful government programs and improving government," said Phil Singer, a spokesman for the Democrat.

Bush offered a litany of statistics that he said were a sign of economic growth, including 12 straight months of job creation, a national unemployment rate of 5.4 percent and interest and mortgage rates near historic lows. "Listen, any hopeful society has a growing economy, and I've got a plan to keep this economy moving forward," Bush said later at a campaign rally in Johnstown, Pa.

3. The public needs to read his "Agenda for America"
...I saw a Bush commercial for this tonight, and there's a little detail people need to know about:

http://www.georgewbush.com/agenda/

Go to Chapter 1 (http://www.georgewbush.com/agenda/Chapter.aspx?ID=1):

"Three years. Three tax cuts. An economic recovery—American ingenuity—unleashed. At a critical moment in the Nation's economic history, while a recession was taking hold, America was attacked, and corporate fraud was exposed. In response to these challenges, the President acted decisively to strengthen the economy and create jobs. The President's leadership resulted in Congress returning taxpayer money to the families, entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors who earned it.

In his second term, President Bush will focus on building a more prosperous, competitive economy that will continue to be a strong engine for jobs and prosperity for years to come. The essential elements of his plan include: taking the next bold steps in reforming education; building a skilled and effective workforce; encouraging a pro-growth, fair, and simpler tax system; promoting research and development in both the public and private sectors; opening markets for American goods around the globe; meeting our energy needs and lessening our energy dependence; reducing the regulatory burden; and reforming Government to be smaller and more efficient, responsive, and effective. President Bush is committed to making sure America has the best prepared, best educated, and highest skilled workforce in the world.

President Bush believes that education is the key to opportunity and America's best tool in an increasingly competitive global economy. This means that every child deserves a world-class education and every worker deserves the support of a Government that makes a lifetime of learning a top priority."

SO..."encouraging a pro-growth, fair, and simpler tax system"...the NATIONAL SALES TAX, which...when added to your state's existing sales tax...means that every trip to the store will add 40-50% to your purchase price. Rep. John Linder (R-Ga)...the guy lobbying for this...says the tax would be 23% plus your local sales tax. Economists disagree:

Read the thread I posted yesterday on this:

"Fox: Economists say "realistic" National Sales Tax would have to be 40-50%"
