Freepers thing O'Reilly is a liberal...
Went to the Freepers site yesterday for giggles, and certainly got them. They seem to feel that O'Reilly is a liberal.

Can anyone 'splain that? Just like Zel Miller, O'Reilly seems to have pissed off both sides, I s'pose.

1. Anti-death penalty, pro-environment...
...I think there's something else I don't remember. But yeah, if you have a few scattered liberal positions, it doesn't matter about the other stuff, they think you're a liberal I guess.

3. Well he's a gun grabber
but that's not necessarily a liberal position.

4. Thanks...
Thanks for clearing that up. I had no idea. I still can't stand him, though. I've only been able to watch him for about 3 minutes. He seems awfully full of himself.

Cheers,
Mike

7. It's kind of like how John McCain is loved on the DU and Evan Byah is not
It's just as bad on the DU. Sometimes the 'logic' is mind-boggling. I remember seeing threads where the majority of people would basically throw up at the idea of Evan Byah, a moderate Democratic senator being VP, but then rejoice at the thought of John McCain, a moderate Republican senator, being VP.

If you are a Democrat, some liberals will expect you to be 100% with their views. If you aren't, then you get bashed. The same liberals will praise a Republican for supporting one liberal issue while that same Republican opposes the liberals on 101 other issues. Evan Byah gets less respect then John McCain on the DU in spite of the fact that Byah is more liberal.

8. good point...
Sorry, I don't know who Evan Byah is, but I certainly understand your point. Now you have me curious as to who this Byah guy is.

Yes, I've seen some serious vitriol on DU when someone doesn't bend 90 degrees to the left, which bothers me.

I'll say, though, that, though I probably disagree with his views (couldn't even tell you what they are), I appreciate McCain for his integrity. That gets him mileage on both sides.

Thanks for your reply!
Cheers,
MF

10. Evan Byah is a Senator from Indiana
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 12:31 AM by Tweedtheatre
Indiana is a conservative state, so you also have to understand that Byah has to go conservative on some issues in order to stay popular in Indiana. It's better to have him in office then a Republican. At least Byah will agree with us more then 50% of the time and I believe his voting record with the party line is higher then 60%. John McCain certainly does have a great amount of respect from me too because of his integrity and his open mind. Byah and other 'conservative Democrats' have open minds too, it just doesn't always work in our favor and therefore we scorn him.
