Link to ABC's "False Documentation?" story on-line...
"These documents do not appear to have been the result of technology that was available in 1972 and 1973," said Bill Flynn, one of the country's top authorities on document authentication. "The cumulative evidence that's available...indicates these documents were produced on a computer, not a typewriter."

ABC News certainly is in a hurry to discredit these documents. I would think it would be in their best interest to wait for proof before rushing to judgement...unless they just can't wait to toady up to BushCo.

Hmmmm, I wonder who this "Bill Flynn" is?

1. Whoever he is
He's a freaking amateur or a hack.

You DO NOT authenticate documents based on .pdf copies of those documents. You do it from the original.

This is hilarious. But also very, very sad.

2. It took the news media WEEKS to begin questioning the SBV stories
yet, they're trying to debunk the authenticity of these memos within 24 hours after their release?

Hmmm.

3. This
Is EXACTLY why I stated CBS will cave in from
the pressure and say "you're right...we're sorry"

This sucks!

5. I Googled "Bill Flynn" and came up with several...
links about "William J. Flynn" who is a forensic documents expert.

Apparently, he was on the defense team for a couple of men accused of Nazi war crimes. And he had something to do with exposing as a fraud, a document that claimed Mormon Joseph Smith murdered a group of people.

His credentials sound pretty impressive.

Nothing about connections to BushCo. I'll check Open Secrets.

6. Actually he seems quite accomplished
William J. Flynn, a forensic document examiner for the past 20 years, is vice-president of the American Board of Forensic Documents Examiners. He exposed a purported Mormon document as a forgery in the 1986 "White Salamander" murder case in Salt Lake City, Utah.
http://thewebsafe.tripod.com/williamflynn.htm

Flynn and George Throckmorton, manager of the Salt Lake City police crime lab, examined the lead sheet April 5 after the park service asked them to determine its authenticity. Flynn said they discussed the lead sheet with colleagues, all of whom agreed the handwriting on the document wasn't Lee's.

William Flynn/Forensics Document Examiner: "CLEARLY, I MEAN AND POSITIVELY, IN MY OPINION THE HANDWRITING IS NOT THAT OF J.D. LEE."

William Flynn is one of two document experts brought in on the case. They compared the lead sheet with Lee's handwritten journals.

Gradually I learned more and more about this case. I met with documents examiner William Flynn on two occasions, once in Phoenix, where he resides, and once in Detroit, where I observed a presentation on his analysis of the alleged Trawniki identity card.

So what are Americans to do when we are at condition orange? I was watching Bush on TV and he basically said we should go about our normal routine. I think this roughly translates to “Shut up and keep spending” but then I just might be getting cynical as I get older. Are we having fun yet?

Does ABC have motivation to discredit CBS? Well, they are competitors.

I doubt CBS will back down. But I am beginning to think that the Republicans are finding their stories peeled back, one layer at a time. What if they want to keep the media focused on this, instead of examining what Bush was really doing at the end of '72?

I think Mary Pat is onto the real story here:

9. There is testimony that he was in Alabama...
from, at least, Spring of 1972 until Election Day of 1972.

Linda Allison told Salon about the Boy King's tacky, boorish and irresponsible behavior during that time.

10. Right. But Spring is a large window.
Did you check the link? He was doing community service in early Spring. What I fnd intriguing is this. If there was a cocaine bust and his community service was really a sentence, then maybe the "missed physical" is BS. Maybe he was kicked off the flight line because of his conviction.

That puts a whole different perspective on Bush's missing months.
