3. They are shitting their pants, praying their "forgery" memo will get legs
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 12:51 AM by Dr Fate
I have not seen any evidence yet that they are forgeries- just a Drudge story and a few media blurbs with "questions" or somthing...

Repukes aint laughing at all- they are hoping their media will cover for them.

We neutralized the false SBV ads with the truth about Bush, so we won this rounnd.

8. The IBM Selectric II could type everything on those documents
I used it, my wife used it, my ex-wife used it. We all agree, we could still type those documents as they are presented.

9. We'll have to see.

I think they are taking a gamble by running with the forgery angle. If the documents turn out to be authentic, people will wonder why the RW was so desperate to invalidate them.

I still think there are a couple of reasons to believe the docs are real. For one thing, the WH still hasn't disputed the facts in the documents. McLellan spent a lot of time trying to defend Bush, and his defense - that Bush had been in contact with his commanders and was trying to work things out - essentially agrees with the information in the docs. Also, CBS verified the content with Hodges.

10. Of course they are laughing

They are gullible cynics who are incapable of discerning fact from fiction when it comes out of the mouth of a politician. The way something is proven to be a fact, or at least prove as plausible, is to research it truthfully before it is declared it a hoax.

Without the actual documents it is impossible to authenticate them, however, it took about 10 minutes for DU to at least discover that the claims being made were not factual. Curly apostrophes, proportional spacing, and superscript were not only possible in the 1970's but fairly common using an IBM Selectric.
