So why hasn't the White House denied the authenticity of the documents?
All you hear from the White House is white noise.
If it was a forgery, why hasn't the White House demanded a retraction from CBS?

And why doesn't Bush just submit to questioning by the press? Why not answer questions like: "Mr. President, why didn't you show up for your physical? Mr. President, did your family connections get you into the Guard? Mr. President, etc. etc. etc."

2. They released
the documents that CBS had faxed to them and did so without comment.

5. Maybe they want the mainstream media
to be the ones who detect the forgery, if "forgery" it is. That way, the White House can simply say, "It was ABC and NBC and the Washington Post that concluded all on their own that they were forgeries. We are shocked, shocked, that someone would try to impugn the President in such a way. And the American people deserve an apology from CBS and Dan Rather."

6. I'd say in most cases
silence speaks volumes.

You've all had those moments. You're having and argument with someone, you come up with some large or small nugget of truth, and all you get is dead air instead of a response? That tells me all I need to know.

Peace

7. The White House realizes that the longer we talk about fonts, the better
If we discuss the history of fonts and how fonts came about, then the issues aren't being talked about. The issues aren't on the White House's side. Rove is sleeping tight tonight knowing that liberals seem obsessed with proving fonts instead of working on Kerry's campaign and Bush's record. You want to talk about forgeries, talk about the documents that were forged and led to Bush's lie about yellowcake in the State of the Union. Don't talk about this highly specialized topic that just makes anyone who discusses it look like an academic out of touch with the real issues of America.
