I know. Quite paying attention to polls! But you can't! They are thrown at you every day!!! I'm listening to the Bernie Ward Show on the net and at the news break they announced the new WP poll shows Shrub to be leading Kerry by 11 points! I thought the SP was supposed to be a liberal paper???

1. Don't forget they don't count new voters and they bank heavily
on likely voters and they often ask biased questions! Don't let the polls get to you. If it does, then get out there and try to register voters!!! That's the only way! Kerry popped out of nowhere for the primaries and he's done this in other elections! Believe me, if we keep fighting, he will win! Don't back down and give up yet! The push is just starting!

3. Actually I think that the point is more:
"Quit bringing up the polls".

You are, of course, free to pay them as much attention as you like.

And what the other member said!

4. You're right of course. Don't pay attention to the polls!
I agree with you, but I can't help pay attention when every media outlet keeps hammering the same shit all the time. My attention wat brought to this one because the WP always seemed to be favorable to Kerry! My brain just did a flip when I heard these results from that source! I've been easily able to ignore the CNN/Gallup and Hewsweek etc. but this one was though!

Sorry....I promise to do better.

6. Actually,
I don't care that much, people create all sorts of threads that I think are a waste. But it is what I expect, so no big deal.

However, I do think that many people are sick of Polls as threads, and that is what I was really saying.

And if I was implying a criticism, it was more of a timing sort of thing.

I may be hallucinating, but it seems pretty riled up in here tonight!

But why anyone would take this stuff so seriously is, really, quite beyond me! It is just one day in a long, ugly battle.

7. Six points with Nader in the race...Only 4 points among "likely voters"
You may want to change your thread to:

Damn! Kerry just closed from 11 points behind to 4 points behind in 6 days!

8. I'm not paying attention to the polls until October 1st.
They are meaningless between now and then.

9. They're trying for a bandwagon effect
"Bush is way ahead."
"Kerry is a loser."
"Look at how popular Bush is."
"Kerry is boring. No one likes him."

Repeat until everyone believes it.

10. That;s probably true, but it's too early for that.
This is still September!!! How many talking heads have you heard say that a week in politics is a lifetime? There will be many insane things happen between now and November!!!

11. Ignore the polls.
Look to the debates. That's where Senator Kerry will take down Bush.
