Remember Paul O'Neill's Book - 8.5 months BEFORE 911 ...* plans for Iraq

For those of you who haven't read "The Price of Loyalty", Paul O"neill WAS the US Sec. Treasuer in Bush's cabinet.

O'neill (who is a repug) was the CEO of Alcoa, served in previous admin's. and was highly regarded by all as a man of character and substance.

The book is written with David Suskind which O'Neill agreed to as he took office. O'neill took notes on every single meeting: content, who was there, dates etc.. This is a very detailed man.

He wrote (two things...but much more):

* 8.5 months before 911, shrub's first cabinet meeting they were planning for Iraq and went so far to be discussing oil.


* O'neill was very much for using the deficit to help soc sec funding and medicare...while bushco wanted to push for further tax cuts.


The book came out and the media gave him and David Suskin the "brush off". Suskind/O'neill had very very detailed notes (13,000 meeting notes)....and the media says it was retribution for O'Neill leaving Bush's staff becuase of tax differences.

The point is... here was a very credible powerful repug...who shared inner facts about how awol works.

Iraq was not a war on terror...it was planned... and the media had the "key inner guy in the bush WH" and they IGNORED him.

1. Great book. And O'Neill also clearly showed how the

meetings were scripted, not open discussions. Big Dog refers to this all the time, saying we need a President who will LISTEN.

I also got the impression Colin Powell doesn't like being part of this 'team'. Think maybe he feels he must do damage control as he can, rather then let another full-Bushie in his spot do more damage.

2. Agreed - if anyone were UNDECIDED in the election - get the damn book

you will see what happens in this admin....it was a shocking book.

And all the people around shrubya could not say a damning thing about Paul O'neills character or FACTS.

The MEDIA would not dicuss the facts or important contents...they only brought up "titilating gossip crap".

3. Yes indeed.

O'Neill has it all laid out for the blind to see. "I" think KKKRove shut him up. He just dropped off the face of this earth within days of his book being released. I'm sure Rove threatened his family. No doubt in my mind.

I also find it telling that he had to condense his "Presidential Briefings" to no more than 3 pages because the idiot wouldn't READ them if they were too long and then it's not sure that he even read THOSE.

KKKRove and the media must be stopped.

Maybe CBS and 60 minutes will get O'Neill on in October? Could we be so lucky?

4. IF anyone wanted facts on pre-Iraq activity --- the book is damning

IF you ever wanted to see the media TOLD TO IGNORE the book... this is it.

60 Minutes interviewed David Suskind (Book Author) and I walked away thinking shrubya would be impeached..I kid you not.
