Why forge a document corroborating the official record?
There is already an undisputed document that cites Bush's suspension of flying status for failure to "accomplish annual medical examination." What would be the point of forging a document that simply corroborates the official record?

1. This is the point
The question is not about if CBS used forged documents, or even if bush got into the guard to avoid Nam, the question is did he LIE about it?

2. Change story from Bush law violation to "possible forgery" - and the
media whores at GE/NBC's Today Show are doing that (as did the evening media whores at ABC and NBC)

3. I think the "letters" were a deliberate plant to discredit the story.
We didn't need the letters in the first place. Now the "story" is a about "forged letters" rather than "Bush lying".

8. I agree with discredit the AWOL story
while the media is off in the woods screaming forgery, forgery there is still substantial evidence that Bush shirked his duty in '72-'73

4. the new documents indicate a coverup
if they are not forged it is bad for dumbya, if they are forged it sows doubt on all future 'revelations' of this type.

7. The documents just supplied details....
It's already well known that Bush got into the Guard because of his Daddy's position. And, once in, he screwed up.

9. Sometimes people fordge the truth
In the OJ Simpson trial they did the same thing. They planted evidence to frame a guilty man. And - it backfired.
