What next for the Democratic Party if Kerry loses ?
Also if the Dems lose more seats in Congress and state and local seats as well? The rise of Howard Dean was the indictation that there needs to be change in the leadership of the Democratic Party. Even though he lost (albeit suspiciously IMHO!) the primaries, Howard Dean set the catalyst for the demand for the Democrats to be bold, decisive and not back down to the Republicans. Honestly, even if Kerry does win and the Democrats win more seats in Congress, the call for change is inevitable. I cannot see those who advocate the mushy mealy mouthed middle being in control for much longer. If the Democratic Party is going to survive, then it must return to it's core values and takae a harder, tougher approach to the neocons. Make no mistake, these people are not going to go away regardless of what happens on Novemner 2nd.

1. it's over for the country
supreme court will be stacked, and we will be involved in one war after another until all our resources are gone, and we end up like the Soviet Union

Left-leaning activists will find a new leader and set a new course for the Democratic Party.

I will be one of them should Kerry lose.

3. independent action militia cells - that would be the RW response - but
we on the left are expected to accept the media's statement that it was a fair election.

And we most likely will.

4. If Kerry loses
the DLC will say it's because Kerry ran too far to the left and they will continue to push the dems to the right even as * takes us over a cliff.

5. Ever heard of the Whigs?
That's what we'll be asking about the Democrats if they blow this election.

7. Won't matter
Neocons will see a defeat as a "mandate" to remake the country in their own warped image.

If W either wins or is re-selected, I truly doubt that we will see free elections again in our lifetimes. There will be "show" elections, very like the totalitarian regimes that they claim to hate, but in truth, admire.

The supreme court will be stacked against humanity in favor of corporate interests, all social safety nets will be done away with and the tax burden will be lifted from the poor oppressed wealthy.

That is why W CANNOT be permitted to cheat his way into office again!!

9. If you "liked" the first four years, you'll "love" the second four of Bush
I believe that the Democratic Party would become a token opposition party to give the illusion we have a choice. The Republican Party will be the only true party in America, and they will dictate and control all aspects of American society and if you are different and not with the program, you will be singled out and you will be either jailed or killed.
They will make the rich richer and the poor poorer and the population dumbed down further.

8. If Kerry Loses
The Republican Party is getting one more member. If we can't beat the Chimp, then we're just going to have to concede that this is a one party state and that it will be best if we all just try to move the only real effective party away from its far right loonies so they don't come after all of us that may be humanist or educated or gay or non-christian.

11. Even people tried to join the German Nazi party in hopes to change it.
Many of whom either failed or were killed in the process. These are evil people and I would rather be swimming in my vomit than join those fascists.

14. Canada is only three hours away for me.
I would do well there I think. I would join the fight but how can you fight when you are a general with no army? A lot of people I fear will roll over and accept this particular if the Neocons steal the election again.
