I hate to say it but the recent * ads are very effective.
For the last few weeks Americans have grown more and more disgusted with the debate over the VN era. Again and again we have heard the call for the debate to move on to the issues and for the candidates to lay out their agendas.
This is exactly what the * ads portent to do. Not a mention of Kerry but a power point presentation of issues and agenda. No specifics to be sure.
In the mean time they throw out the Viet Nam era NG bullshit bone that we can't seem to get enough of.
We are left debating forgeries while * is moving forward with exactly what the public has been begging for.
They have also split responsibilities between * and Chenney. * is engaged in his promotion of issues he will tackle while Chenney is on a long leash attacking viciously every day. Good cop/ Bad cop routine.
The Kerry team had best wake up and ignore all the negative crap that is emerging and start telling the American people more about his plans. He needs to rise to the occasion and prove he will provide us with a more secure nation.

1. Kerry IS telling people about what he plans to do...
The two problems? The whores in our media don't cover that, and if you want details you have to be able to read and type - Kerry's plan is in black and white and is a PDF file on his website. Hell the man has published books on it.

Saying that Kerry isn't making it available is patently wrong. The problem is that most americans are too goddamned stupid to read, type or research on their own. They would prefer to say Kerry isn't doing his job than lift a finger or stretch a brain cell and do THEIR job.

Americans are too goddamned stupid to be democratic anymore. Period.

2. Not ignore - go for the one-two-three punch
Kerry and the Democrats need to fight back hard against attacks. They need to bring up accusations against the Republicans every day, every news cycle! AND they need to provide specific plans to address America's problems.

I think that the * power-point presentation is a big yawn. Nobody wants to see a committee report on TV. Blah blah blah.

Kerry can do a lot better than anything Rove could ever invent in his weird little brain.

3. Have you seen some of the new Kerry ads??
They are good. Bush's are sort of a rambling thing which I thought was a regular ad for a brokerage company or something. Kerry does a great contrast of real people and their 'hurts' and the nothing Bush has done. Even husband stopped, looked at one the other night and said "man, that's a good ad".

5. I want to see 527s springing up like mushrooms
Slamming Bush for everything under the sun. There is a great hunger among Democrats to see this happen. Just look at how Texans for Truth raised $100,000 on the Internet in a day. And then some movie producer sends them another $100K out of the blue.

6. Bush is all talk and no walk.... "compassion with no deeds"
Kerry said this yesterday in New Orleans and got a standing O from the Baptist Convention.
Bush is a fake.

that * has taken himself out of the attack mode and is concentrating on his agenda, as if he has one he will openly share.
There are many points of attack for the Dems, more than we can count, but it should be Edwards and others to get out front with these.
The whole military service issue is a stale bone and a terrible waste of our precious time.

11. Looks to me like his agenda is obscured by unanswered questions
about his Guard duty, and further obscured by the weak claim of forgery which serves to keep the story afloat. I think Bush is going into media's hell alley. He won't come out of this, as Kerry has, with documents on his side, and his word is garbage after the discrediting of the Swiftliar attacks.

10. I have seen it an think it is a very good move
It is very effective to lay out how Kerry's plans would differ from *'s.
Others in the campaign need to address the * failures while Kerry concentrates on bringing the solutions to us.
It is mostly our obsession with this whole VN situation that has me concerned. I really think this has been thrown out by Rove to distract us.

13. 29 years ad experience here and the best I can say about them
is that they super what they're saying. Because an ad you can't follow with the sound off is not an effective message.

Otherwise they offer nothing that will convince an undecided, and they don't urge the base to get out the vote. As you point out, it's a power point presentation, and there's no call-to-action to either learn more or help Bush carry out his agenda.

I did find it interesting, though, that the final graphic looks like a book. With all the anti-Bush books released this year, here is their "plan" in what looks like book form, though we know these people neither write nor read books.

I went to Bush's site to view the ads (and now I have to disinfect my browser) and saw a brand new one that attacks Kerry's Medicare voting record. So I don't think they've turned any corner on negative attacks.

14. I would like to point out, please,
John and John ARE presenting very powerful plans for the future as well as arguments against the attacks. They do have an echo chamber and it's US!
We have led the fight to discredit the attack ads, do the research for our own attacks, and supply the money for the whole thing.

The claim that Kerry brought this on himself is a crock of BS and we need to keep saying it loud and long. JK was called on to introduce himself by everyone, liberal and pet killers alike, there fore his speech at the DNC was exactly appropriate, especially to point out that he is far more qualified to look after our security than the entire bully emperor's regime, combined. That was important and necessary and the idiots who still whine that they don't know enough about our candidates have just been paying attention to their own arrogant enforced ignorance.

It is up to us to dig into the gloom that surrounds the evil empire and get the details out in the light of day for all to see. Reporting for duty SIR!
