1. I don't think anyone knows what machine was used for the memos.
It is possibly one of 2 machines I believe.

3. The post is about the font
The font - or typeface - refers to the design of the letters. IBM Selectric typewriters used little balls to create the images. The balls were available in many different font sizes and types.

2. Wow, notice something about that typeface?
It ain't MS Word Times New Roman. But you wanna know something else about that Typeface? I could type it up in MS Word Times New Roman, overlay it electronically over what you've poroduced, and it would MATCH EXACTLY, or at least "appear" to anyway.

4. Look at the "4". It doesn't have a "closed top" (or poor quality
of the scan?).

5. Not true. This face has an open topped 4. The memos do not
For checking faces- be sure to check the threes and fours. These threes match, but not the fours

In the memos the fours are 1) closed top (pointed), and 2) san-serif (no foot on the 4s)

In the memos the threes are rounded top, not flat top
