C'mon "Journalists" - CALL THE QUESTION! "
Since you're too lazy to do it yourself, I've drafted a couple of simple questions to get you started . . . feel free to use them without attribution:

Mr. Bush - there's much controversy, charges and counter-charges flying back and forth about your National Guard service. For years, you have responded by simply saying that you received an honorable discharge and that should end the discussion. But obviously, it hasn't. You can put this story to rest today by just answering a few questions:

1. Why did you fail to take your medical examination after your were ordered to do so?

2. You say that you showed up and completed your commitment at the Alabama Air National Guard base. What exactly did you do when you were there?

3. Can you name any other National Guard member with whom you worked and who will say they remember seeing you perform any of these duties?

Come on people, do your damned job!

2. I can only think of one journalist with the guts to do this
Helen Thomas. I hope she gets the opportunity.

Today's journalists are gutless.

4. And Tweety wonders why his type are called "talking heads." It's because
none of 'em know how to practice investigative, tough journalism any more.
They even invite each other on as guests, as though they somehow know more than others, even though they seem to be woefully ignorant of some of the most pertinent facts...
It's sad.

5. "They're all just recycled, discredited charges"
Why do they say that every time when the old charges are never really discredited and new evidence of his desertion keeps popping up?

7. A real reporter would smack him down . . .
"Yes, sir, I've heard you and your surrogates say that. But I'm not making charges, I'm asking you three simple questions, which you've never answered.

"So I'm asking you again . . .

1. Why did you fail to take your medical exam after you were ordered to do so?

2. You say that you showed up and completed your commitment at the Alabama Air National Guard base. What exactly did you do when you were there?

3. Can you name any other National Guard member with whom you worked and who will say they remember seeing you perform any of these duties?"

I'll wait for your answer. And if you don't answer, I'll ask again. If you STILL don't answer, perhaps you can explain to the American people why you think they're not entitled to answers to these three simple questions.

9. here's his answer:

(shrugging his shoulders) "I appreciate that question. I understand what you're saying. And I understand that it's the 'silly season' in Washington. But I think the American people know who they can trust to lead this country should another attack happen on our soil. You see, we turned the corner and we aren't turning back. And when it comes to choosing strong leadership over the possibility of being attacked, I'll choose to keep America safe every time."

11. And a real reporter would not let him go with that crap . . .
"Sir, with all due respect, that is not an answer. In fact, you have not ever fully responded to these questions and the few answers you've given have been incomplete, contradictory and, in many cases, proven to be outright false.

I'm giving you a chance to finally set the record straight, something that only you can do, yet you're continuing to evade the issue.

Mr. President, what are you hiding?"

12. Bush remembers the names of people he worked with in Alabama on the
Blount campaign at the same time he was supposedly also serving in the National Guard. How can he remember them, but can't remember the guys on the base.

Is it a selective memory block?

And, conversely - dozens of people who worked with him on the Blount campaign remember him vividly - he was obviously a very memorable character during that time. Yet not one person he served with in the National Guard has come forward with any recollection of even SEEING him, much less working with him?

Not one. Hmmm.

15. Well, damned if Dan Rather didn't step up and CALL THE QUESTON!
"And the questions raised in the story are serious and legitimate questions.

The questions are: Did Lt. Bush refuse a direct order from a military superior in time of war? That's Question One.

Question Two: was he suspended for failure to perform up tothe standards of the U.S. Air Force and the Texas National Guard? That's Number Two.

Three. Did he ever take the physical he was ordered to take by his military superior? Or if he didn't take that physical, why didn't he take that physical?"

Bravo - so nice to know that there are still some real journalist left. Maybe he can teach the rest of them a thing or two.
