My uber-conservative friend that wrote in Ron Paul and thinks Alan Keyes is a genius
...he hasn't been a Republican since the invasion of Iraq and when people were discussing the election last month said "I wouldn't vote for either one of "them worms.""

Last night we were chatting in the rain after a meeting together. I told him I had a ten dollar bill in my wallet... that I would set that ten dollar bill aside for him, and if Habeus Corpus is not restored, if Guantanamo is not closed, and our civil liberties in better shape within a year... I would give him that ten dollars.

He said "I wouldn't take that bet. The odds are fifty fifty."

He has been watching in the last couple of weeks... and is frankly, impressed.

I think we all are.

50/50 is a big step UP, from being the foaming at the mouth wingnut he was in the 90s.

I know, I know... "Happy, this is your FRIEND?"

yup

1. "Them" worms? Give him the $10 and encourage him to enroll
in a remedial grammar course.

2. Improper grammar is the regional idiom of the Northwest
He's actually gifted

He just came a little unhinged, associating himself with extremist in the 90's

Ya'all are amazing.

Even if I thought his misuse of the language was a consequence of poor education, I wouldn't judge him for it.

Weird levels of contempt, for anyone different than themselves, among the self described intelligentsia.

Very telling, that this is only thing you had to say.

3. I grew up in the South. Any American can learn to speak English
correctly. And you mistook a smartass remark for contempt. I live in a place where Italian is the first language and I will be the first to admit that my Italian is much worse than your friend's English.

4. And did he pronounce it, "them worms" or "dem woyms"?
