1,000th death a non-event, how come?
The public just yawned and went on supporting the Chimperor. Is this a sick country or what?

1. It's a symbolic figure.
The 999th death or the 1001st death are just as important.

3. Reasons:
1. No Draft

2. Surprisingly small when compared to the mission

3. Families not constantly in the media protesting

4. Soldiers still viewed as doing the work of the righteous

6. No news that makes Der Fuhrer look bad shall be reported.
This is our American puke-boarded media, where bad news and fear = RATINGS and AD DOLLARS!!!

And lobotomized Dumberica continues to stay the course right into the shock wave . . .

9. Why should they...
...worry their beautiful minds about it?

Believe me, there are plenty of people who took notice of #1000. they just didn't make the news. The other half thinks they are entitled to all the lives * can shovel into the meat grinder over there. they are just poor an middle class kids, not really important to the "beautiful mind" crowd.

10. Whats so special about 1000?
what were you expecting...?

And why glorify one death - all 1000 gave just as much...

I think the lack of concern said more about this war than any amount of public outcry...

11. Do you remember how the late John O'Neill said that all the answers...

could be found in Saudi Arabia? I'm beginning to think that ALL the answers, including the one to the question you ask, can be found with our media. See my sig line. Our free press is essential to democracy. It is not functioning. Our democracy is on life support.

The 1,000th death in Iraq is/was a story. We anticipated it, and it did not happen. Karl Rove did not want it to happen. And out of self interest, fear, whatever, our media did not want the story to happen. One of the few remaining news organizations that still functions somewhat as a it should, the New York Times, made it a story -- they printed 1,000 pictures. I wouldn't be surprised if the LA Times and/or CBS also noted it. As for the rest, forget it.
