Kerry/DNC narrows battleground states to 14
Looks like Missouri is too tough to crack. I had hopes for LA, Arkansas, and even TN or NC.

Here's where the Repubs dalaying their convention comes into play.

From Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Sen. John F. Kerry and the Democratic Party are limiting television advertising to 14 states as the fall campaign opens, curbing their ambitions for a broader playing field against President Bush. The shift reduces Missouri, Colorado, Arizona and four Southern states to second-tier status.

<...>

As happens every election cycle, campaign strategies are coming into focus after Labor Day, when budgets grow tighter.

The Kerry campaign has bought time in Florida, Ohio, Iowa, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Michigan and Oregon. The Democratic National Committee is airing commercials in Nevada, Maine, Washington, and Minnesota.

1. I can tell you the problem here in the south.....
It's all the churches and the religious wing-nuts out stirring up the gay-marriage thing among other issues. Never mind that Dipwad's policies are causing mothers with small children to get farther and farther behind. Kerry still has a LOT of support here still but the churches have way too much hold on people.

2. I hate for Kerry to give up on MO
When I drive around out in the country there are Bush signs all over the place, but we still have KC and St. Louis, and with a proper GOTV network, Missouri is not lost.

I hope they're not basing this on the supposed 11-point lead Bush has here. I don't buy that one for a second.

3. That's exactly it...
Kerry has a chance in "borderline" states if the GOTV networks are strong in the cities. (To wit, Gore won PA just because Philly showed up). I also often wonder how often people in cities are included in polls.

6. Kerry campaigned in Missouri today
But I don't understand the strategy of delaying TV time until October. That state is much more winnable than Colorado or North Carolina or Virginia, IMO. Even if Kerry doesn't spend another cent no way he loses Missouri by more than 4 or 5 points. We don't want this to be Ohio 2004.

4. What about Louisiana!?
We recently elected a democratic Governor here just days after Market Research polls reported double digit lead for the republican opponent!

The Dems have abandoned us here in Louisiana, and I don't know if i'll ever forgive them for it! We're working our asses off here with NO HELP. THis state is NOT a lost cause.

Check out what we've got planned for tomorrow
