LOL@DU
Are we so not used to winning so big that we don't know what to do anymore so we turn on each other?

Maybe it's time for Skinner to set some new rules around here

Flame away if you must

3. If by new rules
Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 01:55 PM by Lumpsum
Do you mean that we'd be allowed to express any "malcontent" opinions without being called a freeper or a troll?

It'd also be nice to not be judged by your post count, or if you have a little star next to your name or not. :)

5. Well
I sure haven't seen it be enforced, if that's the case.

I've been called both a freeper and a troll due to my post count and non-donator status.

6. No not that
I've stayed away since the election because there is so much fighting regarding Prop 8, Reid, Emanuel, Mormon Church

7. It's a strange time on DU.
Of course, one could ask when it has not been so?

It seems to me that the forum is experiencing some of the symptoms associated with "family systems" in times of change.

8. Actually, I'm rather impressed and proud of the way the dem coalition held together.
Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 02:10 PM by ChimpersMcSmirkers
Exhibit A: The GOP Meltdown.

Obama to his credit unified the party rather impressively. Given the bitter primary, and everything else, the dems rallied together. Now the election has been won and the voices of various interests want to be heard. Not really unexpected or something to be discouraged. I just wish the level of nastiness would go down...

12. And I further that prediction: more shit-flinging from Obama primary supporters
than from Clinton primary supporters.

Ironic............

15. The only thing that matters to me is moving forward.

One foot in front of the other. Granted some are itching for him to fail, but I think that has more to do with that being a personal problem (sour grapes?) as opposed to their allegiance to a specific candidate.

I can only speak for myself. I supported Obama early on and will judge him on his policies. I don't see much merit in second-guessing him in the interim, well, other than a parlor game here at DU.

edited for less snark

16. I think that's a bit blinded.
Rather, the majority of the shit-flinging will come from Kucinich/Edwards/None-of-the-above supporters who decided Obama was better than Clinton late in the game. The long-term Obama supporters have been far more, shall we say, patient.

22. Exactly, I supported Hillary, then totally got totally behind Obama
where I remain.

I haven't dissed or questioned one decision he has made and I probably won't for at least several months after the Inauguration....he needs some time and some room to clean up this mess...

24. You know, I should have tried to make my post funnier
I was only trying to make the point that people who only a couple of weeks ago would not hear one word of criticism of Obama....and yes, even going more than a year back....are now jumping on every decision he is making.

I switched my support over to him after the primary. I've been blown away by his campaign. And now, I'm giving him a chance to carry out the job he told us he was going to do...not so much for other folks.

I was by no means trying to corral ALL Obama supporters and was trying to be wryly funny more than anything...sorry if it didn't come off that way :)

23. From Edwards and Kucinich supporters
There were a lot of ideological lefties that hopped on with Obama as the "at least he's not Hillary" candidate, but most of Obama's early backers are moderately liberal types, not litmus test warriors.

25. I don't see Obama moving left or right, I see him moving forward.
I will wait and judge Obama on his policies, but I think there are definitely some sour grapes lying in wait ready to pounce.

17. you're kidding right?
DU, since 2004 from what I can tell, has always had a high level of flame wars and inter "tent" squabbling. Its been real bad over the years. I had one guy shout that I was a Freeper Troll because I've never posted in the Labor forum, I kid you not. (What can I say? I have nothing to contribute to that forum, sue me)

Tuning on each other has been something of a regular feature of DU and I've seen a bunch of old timers quit the site because of it. People have really fragile psyches here.
