Repubs say: "We are a 'center-right' nation; our message of conservatism wasn't clear."
Why would anyone argue with them and try to convince them that their analysis is wrong?

Let them believe it! I HOPE they truly believe this and come back in 2010 and 2012 with even MORE conservative messages for the voters!

A majority (and, I think, growing number) of people rejected this idea and have seen that these policies flat out failed. They are fairytale, conservative dreamworld beliefs. Totally unrealistic, anti-pragmatic, anti-progress, anti-middle-class, etc. Let's hear MORE of it during elections, PLEASE!

1. Just the the majority of the old folks. They'll be dead sooner than the rest of us anyways.
And most certainly not all of them!

2. My mom has on Fox Cable news on her television 24/7.
Edited on Sun Nov-16-08 12:17 PM by ShortnFiery
I love my mom dearly and she was always there for me ... but her political perspectives are a profound disappointment. :(

When I visit her a couple times a year for only a few days at a shot, I'm convinced!

Propaganda: If you listened to Fox Cable news and touted it as your only viable source for politics, you too can join the belief structure bandwagon. America is a center right nation? Damn straight! Just ask a FOX cable news junkie? :eyes:

3. The Election proved this concept false....we are in a FLUX ... going from one Polarity to another
from Negative...to POSITIVE....

We are looking for ideas/concepts that are in the BEST INTEREST for ALL AMERICA...fuck the center / right crap...its their way of minimizing their embarrassing LOSSes

4. One can tell
.... by listening to them that they only listen to faux news, and you can stop them cold by telling them you know what they watch.

You just have to be careful you don't hurt the poor sensitve things. Bwahaha

13. I know and it's a challenge when those of one's extended family drink freely
from the FOX cable news trough. I don't blame the elderly folks because many did not have the access to information and educational opportunities early in life. Many people prefer structure and simplicity as they age.

But young republicans truly CREEP ME OUT! They have access to multiple news sources and are gleaning a higher quality education than our parent and grandparents (at least in many areas of the USA). There's no excuse for "the youth" to lean right wing save for WILLFUL IGNORANCE. :(

15. Good point
We don't run across too many youg'uns who have been foxed out. But when we do we should slam them, hard.

The old folks just need reassurance that everything is gonna be fine. Just like the good old days.

21. young republicans - totally agree. Very large ick factor.
But I think you left out the prevailing motive for these young thugs that even trumps willful ignorance - GREED. Greed in the young - they admire the rich and want to be just like them, and to hell with anybody else.

Young republicans... they creep me out too. :puke:

11. I'm sorry to hear that..there was a study
that fauxsn00ze watchers were the least informed Americans. I can see that by watching Jon Stewart play a montage of their "Fear" Clips the other night.

I'm surprised Shep Smith is still there because he stated it was not the "media" who got Obama elected as some are whining.

As of this election..America is a Reality Based Country.

18. Gotta hand it to them. They all do a remarkable job of staying on message
I don't think that Dems will ever be as good at repeating talking points. We're all freethinkers, not obedient sheep. I have friends who watch a lot of Fox news too. What's remarkable is that many of them DO have very liberal beliefs; they want to live in a world where diplomacy comes before war, where everyone has a chance at a good education, safe, well paying job, and health care. They think that CEOs are paid way too much. They want clean, renewable energy-but their answers to all of these issues are idiotic Right Wing ones. "Let the market decide" is their fix all. They believe that "liberals" are keeping the good capitalists among us from fixing the world with their grand innovations, perfect schools, excellent hospitals, etc. Apparently the economic melt down just slipped by them. A conservative utopia can no more exist than true communism can-for the same reason. Human nature. People will always reject communism because they want their own stuff. Pure capitalism and/ or libertarianism without governmental interference (a "tax free society") can't succeed either; people are way too greedy. Without limitations, greed and corruption becomes limitless too. But the Right Wing will NEVER let go of that dream.

5. Let them continue to believe it, and to think if only they were MORE conservative...!
They called Obama "the most liberal Senator in the senate".

And then they say they lost coz they "weren't conservative enough".

Sounds like a VERY winning strategy.

For liberals.

So why stop them???

9. We are a nation that wants results.....
.....the hell with which side of the spectrum the best solutions are. The current GOP is so ideologically driven that they really have no good answers for some of the problems we face. That isn't our problem - it's theirs.

12. We DON'T want them to convince the public that
Edited on Sun Nov-16-08 12:47 PM by Bonn1997
the Republican's problem was the messenger not the message. I have a suspicion that if they repeat that line enough times, it will impact the low-information voters, which is probably their goal. I understand what you're saying but I'd rather see Democrats arguing in response that the public just endorsed their progressive policies of tax fairness and intelligent use of force as a last resort.

17. Election losers all say the exact same thing:
"We lost because we didn't get our message out. If voters had truly heard what we were saying, we would have won."

Every loser. Every. Single. Time.
