Makes some very good points, and frighteningly true.

I'm tempted to share this with some of my right-wing "Christian" friends but already know it would make no difference to them. They're of the belief that once one accepts Jesus Christ as their personal savior as their ticket to heaven they are free to be as big of assholes in this lifetime as they choose. (Well, maybe they wouldn't put it in those words, but it's basically their belief..)

Just a few months ago I attended the funeral of a relative and had to listen to a sermon by the deceased's Baptist preacher. He said that living a better life was not the ticket to Heaven, you had to declare that Jesus Christ was your personal savior. That, and that alone, would save your soul.

Sounds like a "Get out of jail FREE!" card to me. I can't help but wonder if a few people are in for a surprise when they try to cash it in Upstairs.
