This is a bit strange. * is willing to be grounded and to violate a direct order rather than simply spend 1 hour to take the required physical, yet just 3 short months later he finds the time to see a MILITARY dentist?

He wouldn't have passed the urine test in a physical. The Armed Forces started drug testing in June or July 1972. Since his pee was probably 50% coke, Shrub couldn't risk the test.
