Holder supports end to Gitmo, extraordinary rendition, end all torture, & stop domestic surveillance
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 10:36 PM by usregimechange
Like Obama, Holder has said the United States must reverse "the disastrous course" set by the Bush administration in the struggle against terrorism by closing the detention center at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba that now holds about 250 prisoners.

Holder also has said the United States must stop sending individuals to nations that engage in torture, must cease warrantless domestic surveillance and must declare without qualification the United States does not torture people.

4. I didn't mean to infer he didn't oppose those practices
by our government. Only that it is good he does.

7. But he pardoned Mark Rich
I don't care what he thinks of torture or privacy or Guantanamo. All I care about is he worked for Clinton and was involved in the pardoning of some rich dude that the media told me I should care about.

11. Elliot Ness refuses to participate in Al Capone Criminal Behavior.
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 11:29 PM by Ichingcarpenter
Isn't that what he is saying?

But Elliot Ness didn't go after Capone but left it to the international community.

Hopefully I'm wrong and justice will be served.

I rather thought everyone except the inner circle at Neocon headquarters supported at least that much.

16. It sure is a surprise to me...
I've been reading the posts here tonight, and he seems worse than Gonzalez. He said something about stiffer laws for marijuana in 1997, and he defended some bad people when he was a defense attorney.

I mean, really.

Please don't make me break out the snark smiley.

19. I agree!...
I think the Bush Administration is a great example of how to fill positions. Look at what a heck of a job that horse guy did with FEMA? It's not like anyone would have to know anything about the Justice Department anyway, because basically it's not there anymore!

but is on record not to prosecute the Bush regime.

20. I'm reminded of what Eugene Robinson wrote and I agree with him
after the torture era:

"Not that easy, though. More reports like the UC-Berkeley study will come out, but this is not a task that can be left to academic researchers alone. The new Obama administration has a duty to conduct its own investigation and tell us exactly what was done in our name. Realistically, some facts are going to be redacted. Realistically, some officials who may deserve to face criminal charges will not. But to restore our national honor and heal our national soul, we at least need to know."

If the Obama phrase and bumber stickers "enough" are to have any meaning, the people need to know what enough of.

It means that Gitmo will be closed ASAP and that's going to be an excellent first step.

It's funny, because any Democrat who was worth anything during the 90s had connections to the Clinton Administration. lol.

25. Nope, not good enough for some of these screaming, progressive liberals. Maybe if he
throws some paint on Sarah Palin's caribou coat, and wears some pink underwear and tights at the gay parade on the biggest float singing "I'm Every Woman" , then ... maybe then some of these whiny progressives will be ok with him.
