Let's not get Talmudic over Selectrics
CBS is the only legitimate tv news media outlet not beholden to corporate ownership. CBS does NOT have a cable news channel. CBS has 60 minutes. CBS still has integrity and I'm sure the BFEE would love to take them down but they have Rather to deal with, which I believe they would rather not.

Rather has cojones and the BFEE know he has the goods on them as does Kerry, which is why they are fighting so hard to win this PARTICULAR election. They have alot to hide and alot of lies to feed to the American public to keep them confused and off-balance. Scared people seek safety and reassurance, a commodity the BFEE like to pretend to dole out so the fearful will vote for them. They actually get nothing but an illusion of safety from an illusory fear.

Obsessing over typestyle is just what the BFEE would like to focus on as opposed to the truth of Bush's* service in the TANG. Disrupt and distract. Rather tried to make this point but the preening faux news channels are too busy propping up the faux king so his message has been drowned out.

Let's not get snared in their media trap and stick to our singular goal which is to elect John Kerry President.

3. This Is A Murrow Moment...& Rather Knows It
The end of McCarthy's witch hunts came when Edward R. Murrow did a devestating report on this slime and soon the HUAC hearings faded away. In the 60's, Walter Cronkite stood up to LBJ and declared Vietnam as a lost war after Tet in '68 and after that it was finding was for "Peace With Honor". Rather stood up to Nixon in '73...when he questioned Nixon about missing tapes, Nixon said "you're good, are you running for something?" Rather replied "No sir, are you?" He also broke a lot of the Watergate stories and was at the top of the Enemies list.

Rather is one of the last "good ones". He a discipile of Murrow and Cronkite's heir...and now is making a stand for what he surely sees at a real attack on journalistic integrity. You can tell Rather is dead-sure on this story and will stake his network and reputation on it...and visa versa. This is very inspiring.

CBS has some other good folks, too. John Roberts is the next in line and Rather's actions are also designed to give him the power and responsibility that job has...and to see how it's done right.

It'll be interesting how many, if any, of Rather's bretheren...Brokaw, Jennings, Cronkite, Greenfield, or others speak up and defend his stance and relay the questions he's asking.

Cheers!

5. I hope 60 Minutes this Sunday
continues the conversation and holds the BFEE's feet to the fire.

Dan could act to distract their attack from Kerry.

Remember the exhaustion factor that the BFEE has on the voters due to negative attacks and enliven your local voters to get their *bleeps* out on election day. Numbers matter!

Cable polls are crap and must be used to invigorate our voters not keep them from voting due to defeatism!

6. It's no wonder the RW hates Rather
They hate anyone who dares challenge their version of reality. With the enormous power they now wield in the media, Rather will probably be the last one of his kind.

7. Only if we let them
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 12:03 AM by DianeG5385
We, the electorate have the power. We cede it to the BFEE and their ilk at our peril. We need to vote in the folks who will get this country back on track! Maybe Rather will inspire young journalists in his model as did Murrow and Cronkite before him, men of great character and truth who believe in country before party.

14. I hope you're right. I think of Mussolini and others
...who have gained power through corporate control of major media.

Michael Bloomberg and Silvio Berlusconi are two modern examples: Both were elected even though most people didn't really like them much. Human nature dictates that our attention always goes to the loudest sound first. Today the RW makes the most noise.

The only way we can overcome them is to get very, very loud ourselves.

8. and remember they came close to murdering Dan Rather with Anthrax
and since they never "caught" the terrorist who did it it shows how tough rather is as i truly believe the anthrax terrorist is a government person.

11. I always thought Anthrax was an inside job
I don't think we'll ever know the truth..unless..someone in the know who may STILL be alive cares more about this country than fealty to the stupid Prez* (or, can overcome his fear of what they will do to him)

10. I dunno....I'm having such a good time!
It's Friday night and I'm taking a trip down memory lane remembering typing on IBMs and Smith Coronas and other old machines.

I have written a lot of letters today and I got a call from my local paper confirming my address and name re: a letter to the editor, so it looks like it might get published.

So tonight I'm kicking back with a diet coke having fun.

13. My dad gave me an IBM selectric when I went off to college
in 1973. I was very popular with the term paper inclined of my room mates. I had multiple font "balls" which varied as to type style and characters.

You know in your soul that the memos are real, but the BFEE are winning the battle of hearts and minds through their lies because that's what the willing believer wants to believe...on faith...scary.

12. CBS was wrong about poison gas being used in Vietnam
Wait and see what happens, but the documents are so easily debunked that it makes me think that this whole thing is nothing but a Rovian plot: leaking documents that can be proven to be false in order to cast doubt on more credible stories about Bush's "service" with TANG.

Remember the Niger yellow cake uranium story, and Blair's "proof" of WMDs that turned out to be a student thesis?

15. Yeah, but we're not as stupid as the president
and we have no hidden agenda we want to support...

OOOps! my bad, we Do want this administration out but we don't want to use their NAPALM tactics to win at all costs.

(That's what makes us better than clothing....better!)
