I don't know what other changes were made.

3. Unfortunately, this is back, too:

"Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent."

Obama would be better served to let gun-control policy be an issue at the local (not national) level, and let any of those measures be subject to the same constitutional scrutiny brought to bear on other questions.

The Tiahrt Amendment already allows law enforcement to access NICS test results when probable cause that a crime has been committed is established, and when warrants have been issued. No de facto registration scheme should parade under the need for research, trends, and campaigns against "illegal arms trade," etc., and no one need access this data except LEOs using due process.

Criminals and children are already barred by law from obtaining guns, and measures have successfully been taken to significantly lower the rate of childhood deaths by gun "accidents."

The gun shop "loop hole" is yet another erroneous gun-control frame (see "assault weapon"). No gun shows sell arms. The individuals who rent tables there do, and all sellers who are federally licensed firearms dealers do background checks on-the-spot. If President-Elect Obama wants to institute a universal "background" check, then he should put forward a proposal as such. There are many Second Amendment advocates who will listen.

The best way to really "childproof" a firearm is to lock guns away and teach kids how to use them properly when they are old enough.

The assault weapons ban was and is a total farce, and I don't believe President-Elect Obama would dare try to institute that legislation after a history of political defeat and with the knowledge that some 15,000,000 citizens own semi-auto carbines. (The factories making these are running 24-7, partly because of these ill-advised policy stands).

President-Elect Obama would be well-advised to talk to the many Second Amendment advocates in our own Party. I hope he will.

5. I'm sorry to see the AWB support is back
I'm with you that it is a stupid law that really did nothing but ban mostly cosmetic features. I wish Obama and Dems would just drop this one. I for one will be writing to them if it comes up in Congress.

As to the gun show loophole in some states private individual sales can take place without a background check. IMHO every gun sale should go through a background check. If the seller/buyer have to go to an FFL, so be it. No different than having to go to someone who can do a title transfer for a vehicle sale.

6. YESS! He's still committed to ending voter fraud
End Deceptive Voting Practices: Obama will sign into law his legislation that establishes harsh penalties for those who have engaged in voter fraud and provides voters who have been misinformed with accurate and full information so they can vote.
