Take a page from Rove's book and pivot. It's time to get back to jobs, healthcare, and the economy.

the Vietnam squabble will not win this election....

1. Now is the time to turn the spotlight on bush's character
Like Paul Krugman said, "It's the dishonesty, stupid."

2. Only indirectly
Do you really want to hear the FOX and CNN stories on the negative 'TONE' the campaign has taken and of course the 'BUSH BASHING'?

4. Told ya' so
When everybody wanted Kerry to go negative, I said it wouldn't matter, then we'd just hear about Bush Bashing 24/7. The media hasn't even picked it up yet, but count on DU to be the first to have somebody complaining about Kerry no matter what he does.

8. No more soundbites, they sound silly
Well we need to have high standards, not just "anyone but Bush". That won't win an election, people want more. What will Kerry do? That's what everyone wants to know.

6. They're going to say it anyway
MIght as well take a page out of Rove's book - sling enough mud and some of it will stick (especially if it's true, as in this case).

7. Agreed, emphasize domestic and don't even mention Bush for a week
Quick big-idea speeches with memorable sound bytes and bold specific proposals. It is completely unnecessary to bash Bush within every argument, birthrighting the media to latch onto and short clip that negativity to death for the rest of the day. You don't steal the other guy's playbook when it doesn't match your personnel or strengths.

A decisive and sure candidate would not even have to compare his proposals with Bush's failures in the same areas. Everyone knows the general state of the economy under Bush. Kerry should just act like he's going to be our president and tell us what that will mean. A crude example, perhaps, but mindful of my youth and how much more successful I was with the opposite sex when I exuded confidence, even if mostly phony.
