Something’s wrong with the polls
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 11:32 AM by LawDem
There is something fundamentally wrong with the polling results this year -- I feel it in my bones and my brain. And it isn’t just the fact the poll results of late have been so wildly inconsistent. It’s also that the results have so consistently shown rock solid support for Bush among Republicans. From everything I’m seeing that just doesn’t match up with the facts "on the ground." Just yesterday I drove to a near by city on business with a rock solid Republican: He hates Bush. He thinks the Iraq War was a major blunder. And he’s not the only one. I know a lot of moderate Republicans who are just feed up with Smirk.

My folks live in an entirely different part of the country, but they report the same thing. Long term Republicans who are profoundly uncomfortable with Bush. I’m not saying most, or even a large percentage of Republicans will vote for Kerry. Of course not. I do believe, however, that there has to be something fundamentally flawed about the survey techniques being used, in so far as they continue to show such near unanimous support for Bush.

Something’s amiss. This just isn’t the reality I see.

1. No, the polls are correct.
They were conducted with Diebold machines.

2. I must agree. How can it be that * is so far ahead.
It is possible for him to be ahead, but not by this much.
Also, how the HELL can Bush be leading Kerry on the economy and character???

:wtf: is this crap???

3. The polls have come back down to earth

From this week's Pollingreport.com:

Poll Date Bush Kerry

Zogby 9/9 47 45

Democracy Corps 9/9 50 47

FOX/Opinion Dynamics 9/8 47 45

CNN/USA Today/Gallup 9/5 52 45

ICR 9/5 48 47

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Presidential_Tracking_Poll.htm">Rassmussen 9/10 47 46

Newsweek 9/10 50 45

Only two of these polls have him up by more than three points, which makes this essentially a dead heat. It just doesn't seem like one because the mainstream media has been mandated to spin this as "Bush in a landslide."
