Dick Cheney's remarks implying that if John Kerry is elected president we will be hit with another terrorist attack is more than just inflammatory campaign rhetoric. It is frightenly dangerous and irresponsible. In addition to ratcheting up the fear factor with the American people, the vice-president is sending a not-so-subtle message to the terrorists that they will have an easier time of it if Kerry is in office.
Is it responsible to politicize terrorism this way when the whole world can hear? This is just another expample of the Bush administration proving that it is more concerned with remaining in power than it is in projecting unity and strength in the face of terrorism. They will say anything to stay in power, even if it means giving the perception that only they can protect us, and we are in serious danger if we don't heed their warnings.
I have no doubt that Kerry will be as tough on terrorism as the current administration. To imply anything less is not only dishonest, but foolhardy.
