Freepers begin their "Boycott CBS" drive.
Oh gawd! This is so pathetic!

http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3a738ae1794f.htm

They want CBS to replace Dan Rather with a Fox News style conservative anchorperson.

2. CBS brought it on themselves
Their cowardice in the Reagans movie flap showed conservatives that they can be bullied arounf.

17. CBS News and the CBS entertainment divisions are separate
CBS News is autonomous, set up that way in the 60s to avoid the kind of corporate pressure that the other networks are feeling. CBS entertainment is fully under the Viacom corporate boot, and that's why they caved to pressure to can the Reagan movie.

CBS News isn't bully proof. They can be pressured to report on right wing stories and to give that harpy Laura Ingraham airtime to strut around and lie. However, they've never been successfully pressured to drop a story completely, although they have sat on them for a period of time at the request of the government (Abu Ghraib, for example).

6. How many members do they have? The other day, I counted:
Jim, his sister, his aunt, his dog, his mom, a college roomie who owes him a favor, and his second cousin.

That makes 4, at my count.

7. i still can't fathom
the idea that people still actually believe that there's a liberal bias in the media.

but according to them, we need to replace rather, etc. with "conservative anchors?" so i guess "bias" is ok when it's on their side?

fucking douchebags

why, when they own pretty much the entire government, when they own pretty much the entire media, that they are still despised loathed detested hated mocked ridiculed laughed at by the entire world and half of America???

You'd think they'd wonder why that is.

You would think. Perhaps selfrighteousness doesn't allow for such introspection. I mean... if you ask them why they hate us... certainly they will say "because we're free" or some such rubbish.

11. How do you boycott something you never watched in the first place?
Freepers pride themselves on the their lack of exposure to information. I don't imagine CBS was ever part of the extremely narrow bandwidth that informs them.

They have their own "news" network for themselves, but when one journalist on CBS finally comes up to the plate and questions this administration, they're calling for his replacement? This is America, right?

Repubs sure like to feel persecuted don't they? Reminds me of the CCers who are having their freedom of religion attacked every time they're not allowed to force second-graders to pray to Jehovah in school.

their evening news regularly (hell, with Brian Williams taking over at NBC, I'm ready for a switch anyway!) BECAUSE they stood behind this story.

And EXCUSE ME, "Bush and the Republicans should boycott CBS until they replace Rather with a Conservative Anchor"????

The anchor is supposed to be OBJECTIVE, not liberal or conservative. That's what journalism is SUPPOSED to be.

30. freepers ... lol..... snot-eating p*ssies used to getting
the crap beaten out of them every day.

they don't have the balls to boycott anything or anybody. especially cbs. they might miss an episode of csi: asscrack.

they fire off a nasty letter to some editor, then post it so they can gather in one big cybercirclejerk, convinced they're a bunch of badasses.

why pay any attention to them? i hate to call people "losers," but that's really the most appropriate description.

31. I say, welcome to the club!
We've been dealing with their fox-style conservative reports for a long damned time. It's about time they got a taste of what it's like when you're not the "moral majority" so to speak.

Besides, with Bush's current approval rating, I seriously doubt that those in the 48% bracket are gonna hurt CBS's rating. On a related note, it's obvious they all watch FOX anyhow, so I'm sure CBS is really shakin' in their boots.

I for one, NEVER watch FOX, but I'm sure as hell running CBS 24/7... whether I'm in the room or not.

...And you're especially a fan of these teams:

New England Patriots
Buffalo Bills
Miami Dolphins
New York Jets
Denver Broncos
San Diego Chargers
Kansas City Chiefs
Oakland Raiders
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Baltimore Ravens
Pittsburgh Steelers
Jacksonville Jaguars
Houston Texans
Tennessee Titans
Indianapolis Colts

Guess what? Most of their games are on CBS. Sure, FOX has the NFC slate, but I watch anyway. I don't watch FOX News, though. I like my news with at least some truth to it.

Wanna listen on the radio? Out of town games are broadcast by Westwood One, a division of Viacom, owner of CBS.

Like to listen to Bill O'Really on the radio? Guess who syndicates him.

Going to the movies? Guess who owns Paramount?

My those freepers are sooo naive!

39. Laugh or be afraid, I'm not sure which?

Republican idiocy is often hard to comprehend. They beat the drum for Fox News, but at the first hint of a network leaning left they're pissing all over it and screaming for boycotts.

Businesses need to start standing up to the radical right and not cave in to political dogma.
