Dear Freepers (and those who feed them)
I understand, in a race this important, that you are embracing the media-spun "fall of Kerry." After all, it's been a rough four years. The current president-select has managed to dwindle the biggest surplus in years down to the biggest deficit ever. I'm sure that's a tough one to debunk, but then you have to deal with the fact that he's failed to find Osama, and spent billions on a war in Iraq to try and make us forget who really attacked us on 9/11. In fact, the only "plus" I can see is that even Rumsfeld can't remember who orchestrated the attacks... good job on the mind-control ;) While we'd all like to forget what happened, the fact remains that we cannot. These attempts at misdirecting the real concerns with typewriters and polls cannot make us forget that our country is in sorry shape, our children are being left behind, our healthcare is lacking, our factories are closing, our unemployment rate is soaring, and our seniors can't afford their medication.

Dearest Freepers, while you try to re-create a document you consider to be forged... while you spend countless hours posting baloney on DU in an attempt to scare us, we are, to your dismay, going door-to-door handing out literature, talking to Republicans who hate George Bush and are ready to vote for John Kerry, and, most importantly, registering new votes who have never been concerned with politics, but don't like the direction this country is in.

You see, Dear Freepers, you may think you are waging a war, but in essence, you are wasting your time. Those of us on DU are NOT going to vote for George Bush. We are, regardless of polls and documents, voting for John Kerry. In your attempt to shake up the base, you have wasted your time. You're wasting your time because WE don't matter. We're working overtime to reach the ones who do matter. I imagine you already know that. I imagine you HAVE been door-to-door, and seeing that you're losing, have attempted to fight in the only forum that won't slam the door in your face.

I'm here to tell you, we have a little box that allows us to slam the door in your face here at DU too. It's called the ignore button.

I understand your dismay. I'd hate be in your shoes, but you need to run along now.

2. Dammit you let the cat out of the bag.
As long as they were here, we could be out there signing up voters. Now I can see the rush to shut off the PC and run out the door to try to catch up.

Com'on back Freepers, please. And if you do I have a nice prize for ya. It's a puzzle card, 3" x 5" on each side is written "See Other Side". That should keep you busy from now until Nov 2.

5. Don't worry... they aren't gonna go door-to-door...
If their fearless leader has to rely on loyalty oaths to speak in public, they sure aren't gonna go out and speak to real people.

"Vote for Bush/Chaney or everyday will be 9/11 if Kerry wins"?

10. You give 'em hell, honey!
You are so right. While the Freepers are researching 1972 kerning, we should take this time to sign up new voters and win over the undecideds.

In Florida, we have a reprieve from hurricane Nader, that's 1-2% of the vote right there and more than enough to move Florida to the Dem column on November 2.

11. You're right. But the freepers aren't posting to convert us.
They post on DU to muddy the water, to make us fight among ourselves, and most of all, to keep moderate Republicans and independents from seeing the truth you brilliantly synopsized.

They know the truth when they see it, and they fear it. We threaten to make the world a worse place for racists, anti-Semites, anti-Catholics. We threaten to keep the corporations from redistributing American wealth overseas, outsourcing jobs, and offshoring for tax evasion. The freepers who disrupt here are crooks or foul-minded scum or both.

I only wish that we could have a forum where the reasonable Republicans could be given a chance to air their views.

12. Most of the disruptors here are paid to do it
There are numerous firms that specialize in manipulating the media and public opinion. They hire people to troll, heckle, spread misinformation, and generally disrupt any attempt to discuss the truth.

31. It has been suggested before...
that we use the Republican love of outsourcing against them regarding trolls, and maintain a thread on cricket at all times to lure the paid trolls and keep them from dirtying up the political threads.

I thought it was rather clever, but unfortunately I know too little about the game to keep up a good front.

15. Not everybody who posts "Kerry should do this, not do that" is a Freeper

Just because a DUer posts something other than "Kerry in a landslide" (which I would agree with wholeheartedly) it doesn't make them a stinking Freeper or enabler.

Come on, this is a forum of ideas. I took offense that I made a post earlier, questioning a few of Kerry's tactics, even quoting Mike Malloy's same complaints, and somebody suggested I might be a freeper.

That is not right.

The real Freepers who post here do stuff like "Kerry is finished" or "you liberals just don't get it," or other such crap. They make 3 posts then they're banned or gone.

We're gonna win this thing, but everybody here doesn't have to agree on everything.

20. Probably getting tired of seeing posters being accused
of being called a freeper everytime they post something other than "Kerry is the greatest leader since FDR!" Just saw a post where that happened to someone.

Let's face it, most here are very tolerant, but a few have drunk so much of the koolade that anything even mildly critical of Kerry or mildly defensive of anyone criticizing anything Kerry does is met with wild overreaction.

That being said, I believe the moderators are more than capable of separating the wheat from the chaff. But the freepers that post here ARE a bit amusing at times, especially when they think they're being clever but are actually quite obvious.

21. Koolaid aside...
...many of us are quite tired of the posts that question Kerry here on DU. Why air dirty laundry for the whole world to see? If you want to discuss your doubts, e-mail someone... private message someone... but don't give the trolls their due.

28. I understand
but I don't agree. You don't make something better by hiding your concerns, you make them better by presenting your concerns in a polite, thoughtful way in the hopes that they gain visibility and support to the point where your party or candidate notice them. My problem is in the way they're presented sometimes, not that they're presented at all. I believe that denying problems and concerns exist can have the opposite effect, i.e. people stop believing you because they think you're so partisan that they can't trust what you say.

If you think you give the trolls support because of that, c'est la vie. If someone can't defend their party or their candidate despite the flaws, they need to educate themselves further.

27. Nothing wrong with brainstorming and constructive criticism...
...but the doom and gloom and obviously-slanted posts go beyond constructive and border manic-depression. Are we bi-polar around here? Who gives a flip about polls and typewriters? Deal with issues and leave the whining to the other side.

You never know how those bat-shit crazies are reacting to "I don't vote for incompetent assholes who were too coward to fight for America in Vietnam, but who are now sending our children to die for them in a completely unnecessary war in Iraq..."

After seeing pictures of women being kicked, hit, and pulled by the hair by these violent Bush supporters, I need to be prepared...

23. Wes_Freak aka Clark4Prez married a republican
Yes, that's right... a "compassionate conservative" brainwashed into believing the "moral majority" had the right to determine for everyone else what is right and what is wrong. Thankfully, he converted this moderate republican into a moderate democrat. Yep, I voted for Bush in 2000 because he was "God's man." I'm ashamed to admit it, but it's the truth.

Now, if I can be converted, there is hope for the others, which is why he and I are pounding the pavement tomorrow. Wish us luck!

26. Unfortunately, today we are preparing for Ivan...
In the off-chance (LOL) that we get hit AGAIN here in Florida, we have preparations that need to be in place. I sympathize with your plight though... my mother is a die-hard Bush supporter for no other reason than she's always been a red-gal (military wife.) I'm sure my dad would be rolling in his grave right now. He always told us to think for ourselves, regardless of the popular opinion. Of course, he WAS the popular opinion in our house, so that led to some interesting discussions. However, my sister, also a red, is voting for Kerry this time around. There is the light, my friend... just gotta keep on shining it in their beady little eyes.
