As I told you all, the lies are NOT working this time. The get people to be doubtful for a few days, but they come back to the idea they know is right; NO MORE BUSH.

This bounce was the best they could do with SBVT, their convention, 9/11... Pitiful. We will have over 300 EVs.

John Kerry will be a great President, and we need to start thinking about how we're going to keep his toes to the fire once he's in office, because all Presidents get distracted and need to be reminded about what their "base" needs.

1. I wagered
to someone on this board three rounds if Kerry didn't win by a landslide.

3. Why I am not in the Panic Mode as others on DU
Although I usually don't post on DU because of the nature of my job, I feel concerned enough this time to do it. I have noticed many DU members freeking out over polls giving Bush a sizeable lead. I am not going to say you shouldn't pay attention to polls, my advise is pay attention to the states. I believe that Kerry, as of today, is assured of 225 electoral college votes: Here's the basis for my statement:

CA - 55
WA - 11
OR - 7
NM - 5
MN - 10
IA - 7
IL - 21
MI - 17
DC - 3
MD - 10
NY - 31
NJ - 15
DE - 3
CT - 7
MA - 12
RI - 4
VT - 3
ME - 4

Minnesota is the "iffy" here, but I believe strongly that MN is going for Kerry.

That leaves these 5 states for Kerry to carry to have or go over 270:

NV - 5
CO - 9
WI - 10
PA - 21
NH - 4

If Kerry wins these five states, he wins the presidency. And currently, state polls show that he is either tied or slight in the lead in these states. Of course, all of this is predicated on the vote being counted accurately.

So, folks, chill out and let's hope Kerry does well in these last five states.

6. Man that would be so great.
To use some imagery, the thought of waking up and checking out the headlines for the next four years, without having a large fist come out of the computer screen and sock me in the jaw, will be wonderful.

Hope ur right Ben. I just wish today was Nov. 1 so we can stop the anticipation.

13. While I'm personally somewhat concerned about the machines...
my concern is somewhat tempered as I've heard a few Democratic political operatives (I can't recall who but they pretty high in the food chain) say they are less concerned about voter fraud from the machines and more conerned about more traditional election year shenanigans (sp?).

Probably doesn't make you feel a hell of a lot better but that is what I've heard from the Dems.

14. I don't see landslide
but I do believe that it won't be as close as the polls indicate because of the new voter registration this time around.

16. Wash Post disagrees
Are only 10 states still "competitive states" (as suggested by Wash Post)

Does DU agree with Dan Balz of the Washington Post that only 10 states are still "competitive states"

Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, West Virginia and New Hampshire, with West Virginia and Nevada major, major challenges for Kerry - more so than the other 8.

Are the other 11 "battleground states" really leaning too far to be called "competitive, because - per Baltz- we have -7 Leaning toward Bush which are: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina and Virginia - with 4 leaning toward Kerry which are: Maine, Michigan, Oregon and Washington.

And of the 10 that are still "competitive", the Bush team will be putting major money to win into Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin, while they view Pennsylvania and Wisconsin as states they can make Kerry work very hard to defend, and see West Virginia and Nevada as quite likely to go their way.

Is it really down to a huge effort to fight the above battle, while the winner of 2 out 3 of Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio wins the election?
