What Republicans Do You Think Kerry Will Appoint to His Cabinet?
First off, let me qualify this with the obligatory statement that a Kerry win is just a possibility. But assuming he does win, let's be realistic - he's going to have some Republican cabinet members. Clinton had Republican appointees and even Bush has Norm Mineta. Kennedy had Republican appointees. Now, regardless of whether you think he SHOULD have Republican nominees or not, realistically, in order to come across as a unifying president, he's going to probably appoint one or two Republicans to his cabinet.

If so, who do you think they should be? I know he's said McCain for defense - possibly, I don't know. Hagel's a possibility (although he'll probably turn it down b/c of presidential aspirations). Maybe John Warner of Va.? My guess it won't be some rabid right-winger, but someone who is a centrist or at least pragmatic Republican who agrees with Kerry substantially on the issues Kerry puts them in charge of. I know there were reports that if Reno didn't serve in a second Clinton term, Clinton was going to appoint Bill Weld to the position of AG, for instance (of course, Reno stayed, and I doubt Kerry would appoint Weld to AG - they get along well, but they are political rivals still and if Kerry gives Weld a position, it'll probably be an ambassodorship or something).

2. hmm one of the republicans you mentioned
if he gives Warner a seat, that gives us a seat in the senate too, but I dont know any good candiates for that job, and I think Marky Warner will be in the Kerry adminstration for something to do with education, he's been talking about it alot lately, and Governor you're right on.

5. Actually, that would make fantastic political theater
Actually, the two reportedly get along quite well, despite Weld's occasional whoring for BushCo and despite their Senate race. The two apparently worked well together in the early 90s, and they publicly shared a beer the night Kerry won. Apparently Kerry told Weld earlier this year (when he was trying to get Weld to endorse him): "Stick with me Bill and I'll get you that ambassadorship to Mexico" (Weld was appointed ambassador to Mexico by Clinton after his loss to Kerry, but Jesse Helms blocked the nomination in the Senate b/c of Weld's liberal social views).

6. John Kerry and Bill Weld are already friends again, and Kerry said he will
give him a job "if" he is elected. but the way he said it was mostly in a joking around type of way since it was before kerry even ran in the primary. but i think he would be a good choice.

4. Not Weld
I watched him sit and smirk on CSPAN while a caller called Kerry a gigolo. Kerry shouldn't give him the time of day.

I wish Richard Clarke had not precluded himself from a job with a Kerry Administration, because I think he'd be on the list. I think Rand Beers will be on the cabinet.

Bush for Ambassador to Iraq!

8. After what the repuke party has done to our country,
I would hope he has ZERO in his cabinet. We need to PURGED them, not add them. They have done enough damage to our country. First we had 8 years of their BULLSHIT when Clinton was in office and another 4 years of nothing but a friggin' NIGHTMARE.....No, I don't want to see ANY in the Kerry cabinet. WE DON'T NEED THEM. 10. He should be made the man to negotiate with Moqtada
And his group. Or maybe Saudi Arabia and he could check out the conditions there. (That's the conditions OUTSIDE of the Royal Palace)
