7. Done!
I just want to say how much I appreciate the recent
reports about George Bush's military service. Dan
Rather is an American hero for caring enough to
investigate and report the truth.

I'd like to warn you that you're going to be bombarded
with hate mail from a forum called the Free Republic.
There are not too many members; they just keep sending
repeat mass emails in the hope that they can dissuade CBS
from reporting real news and sponsors from supporting
the network. Please don't be deterred by these people.
Millions of Americans are counting on you to keep the
journalistic tradition alive in this era of talking
heads and inane punditry.

Thank you again, and I will tell everyone I know to
watch CBS exclusively from now on.

15. Regarding numbers of members...
I've been wondering this for a while. Does anyone know the membership of FR? I went and tried to find out but couldn't see it anywhere. The "about" page is old.

I seem to remember hearing there are 100,000, but could that really be right? Looks like they've been around since before the Clinton impeachment, so if they do have large numbers, maybe that's why.

4. You know , the last person who started a thread telling us to
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 06:49 PM by gristy
warn someone that they were going to get a lot of email from FR "whack jobs" got their thread deleted. I will ask you the same question I asked the other person. Maybe you are even the same person.

Why, oh why, do you think these folks need multiple "warnings" from DUers that they are going to get a lot of email from RW "whackos"?? And how are they going to tell the difference between RW "whackos" and DU "whackos"?

Inquiring minds want to know...

5. Heads up...
Sent.

The revelation that they are not backing down is heartening. I hope it is something of a Crossing of The Rubicon for all news organizations. But I ain't holding my breath.

13. E-mails to Home Depot call for "extra pepper"; they are BIG * supporters..
The company even hosted a * photo-op late last year. If you have alternatives, DO NOT patronize Home Depot!

16. Positive note
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 07:13 PM by Thurston Howe IV
I sent an email to them thanking them for doing good journalistic work, and encouraging them to do more to help inform the public before the election.

It is important to reinforce positive behavior in the media whenever we see it. I know there are huge issues with the media, but an moving the rock a few inches in the correct direction helps. It's just one small piece of the puzzle.
