We PAID for these debates, Mr. Bush
Matter of fact, we're paying for your campaign.

Want to be our President for four more years?

Get out there and answer the Town Forum questions.

You are our employee, not the other way around.

And we are ordering you to debate.

I'm sure the little weasel is taking the money, even though it's peanuts compared to what he'll get when he gets a job with Poopy's buddies after we throw his ass out of our White House.

edit: fixed it to make sense

How can he defend the nation if he can't answer John Q. Public's question?

Edit: There is no controversy concerning the moderated debates so far.

11. Too many links to list
The Bush boy says he's not going to do the Town Hall-style debate (which is supposed to be undecided voters asking the two candidates questions) because there could be partisans in the audience.

When Bush goes to a question-and-answer session, these are the kinds of questions he is used to hearing:

"Mr. President, I would like to thank you for your brave service to America."

'Thank you. And does anyone else have a question? The lady fifteen rows back.'

"Yes, Mr. President. I'd just like to say that God has blessed us with your leadership in these dark times."

They don't look much like questions because they're not. But these are exactly the kinds of "questions" Bush partisans "ask" of him at his Q&A sessions.

Now understand, Bush isn't totally against all partisans. He would like to have partisan questions like these:

"Senator Kerry, my name is Jim Robinson. I run a small Internet business in Fresno, California, and I have one question for you. Have you stopped beating your wife, and if you did was it before or after you gave aid and comfort to Osama bin Laden in 2001?"

or

"Senator Kerry, my name is John McNeill and I am the leader of a veterans' organization. When do you intend to admit that you wrote yourself up for a Purple Heart for a self-inflicted wound?"

Naturally, he would not appreciate comments like:

"Lieutenant Bush, I am John Doe, and I was your squadron commander in the Alabama National Guard. My question is very simple: Where the fuck were you?"

or

"Mr. President, I am the senior pastor of the largest Protestant congregation in America. We have prayerfully compared your administration to Scripture and have come to the conclusion that you are the beast that was released when the Lamb broke the second seal. Is this the reason you're never photographed astride a horse?"

9. Do any good to email the White House address
and RND and remind the assholes they work for us and we want three debates? We can always deluge them like the freepers are doing CBS - let them know we aren't happy - and when the liberals ain't happy - NOBODY IS HAPPY!

13. The debates won't hurt Bush* with voters
Bush* is their Special Olympics President. It's like Middle America's doofus son who "made good" even though he was a bufoon. they cheer him on as he lollygags around, fucks up and says stupid things.

Kerry, with his stentorian senatorial voice of reason will turn them off.

Sound stupid? Yes, it does, but unfortunately, this election is being held in America, and so it IS fucking stupid.

Please don't everyone get their hopes up about the Special Olympics Debates. Middle America will be cheering on their doofus president, saying "aw, ain't it cute" when he fucks up, laughing at him smirking at the "pointy headed librul from up north" and otherwise swilling beer as we head into nazi oblivion.

I'm sorry I'm so pessimistic. I wish I had reason not to be

16. I see your reasoning but
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 10:07 PM by zidzi
it could go another way..there could be extraordinary forces at work during the debates that expose bush for what he is to the American public.

I may be dreaming because I know how the debates with Gore and bush backfired..the media told us that bush won.

And Gore wasn't in top form..I just remembered that Gore said he drank a lot of diet cokes before the debates and was on hyper speed or something.

And I also read that paul begala was coaching him and suggested he roll his eyes and sigh heavily!

Tom Downey was suppose to coach Gore but had to drop out when he opened a package of the gop practice debates with bush and had to recuse himself.

17. Just remember, a lot of voters will not watch the debates, but will
watch the analysis after. If Bush does come off as a bufoon, that's the way it will be reported (hopefully).

20. I watched the 2000 debates. Bush was a buffoon. The commentators....
didn't mention that. They were too concerned about Al Gore's sighs.

14. Just like with all his positions on important things he will change his
mind and make it look like holding that debate was his idea. Think about it. No 9/11 commission (insert time lapse here) Surprise - a 9/11 commission; no testimony to commission by Condi (insert time lapse) Surprise - testimony; no Bush testimony, just a meeting and limited time at that (insert time lapse here) Surprise - they can have all the time they want with me AND dick together; etc etc etc.

He will make it look like he had this brilliant idea on his own and those around him will let him believe it, and the sheeple will believe it was his idea too.

First rough question and their supporters will scream foul and Bush will storm off the stage, real presidential like.

15. Face it. We're going to fire the chickensh*t.
There's no point in trying to get him to do his job properly. He's proved many times over, that he can't handle the job. It's just too much for him, and he's in WAY over his head.

I think we should send this message in letters to editors to every paper we can think of. (Paraphrase, whatever, the point that the debates are job interviews and WE are the potential employers is great! I'll send one to the PHiladelphia Inquirer! Who's with me!

21. Kerry should get half of that time slot for free
What's the fucking issue here? What right does the President have to duck even blatantly partisan questions from people? His "people" don't LIKE some of the queries he may have to face? Hell, short of blatant pornography and schitzy non-sequiturs, he should be obligated to face the music like a MAN. This isn't some big party we're throwing for him, like the rest of his life has been.

It's a Mickey Mouse administration, and he's the Rodent-in Chief. Cheney's the big rat, Condi's a confused shrew, Powell's a baffled beaver, and the rest of them scurry from the light of day because THEY HAVE TO.

If he can't face partisan questions, what good is he as a leader? If he gets sandbagged with something outrageous, he can call it that and refuse to answer.

Grow the fuck up, little boy, and face the muzak.
