Sy Hersh just made a very astute observation.
Three days before the rethug convention, Al Sadr was allowed to walk out of Najaf to fight another day. This, after his militia killed a number of American soldiers there (my added comment). No one here in the US asked why.

Well, I did (to myself). The answer is obvious.... the situation in Najaf was about to blow up and create another crisis, possibly resulting in a broad Shiite uprising.

Prediction: Al-Sadr will be allowed to basically do whatever he wants until after the election. Despite Allawi's announcement that he must be killed.

I want Kerry to beat the coWard up on this in the debates.

1. Al Sadr personally?
I thought he was elswhere. No matter, it is truly fucked up and shows how, like Vietnam, the military objectives in Iraq are not clear.

3. That program was chilling.
It was also chilling to see all the GOPers acting like their brain-dead selves. They'd puff their chests out and regurgitate total nonsense in a 'take that' sort-of-way.

Of course Hersh politely smacked them down, but what is wrong with these people? Have they been totally brainwashed? Is it a my-gun-is-bigger-than-your-gun thing?

Cripes.

4. What program are you talkin' about?
And yes, I have no doubt the Bushies will do all they can to keep Iraq peaceful leadin' up to the election.

6. He was very interesting....I heard that part about AlSadr and 3 days
before the convention...they (thugs)plan everything so it may be true.

How would you like to be an American soldier and let this guy and his army go free....knowing they will re-arm the same day...maybe to kill your ass that night.

I wish someone had asked that assistant to Frist if he was going to serve in Iraq...since he thinks the war was such agood idea.

7. He called it that move "Cynical"
and i think he was on to something there. Did you catch the wingnut towards the end that kept interupting him when he was answering his question about the lack of good intel regarding wmd's? The kids wanted Hersh to say that Bsuh was right going into Iraq.
