OOPS! Yet more AWOL proof - from unexpected RW source!
From the conservative US News & World Report 9/20/04 edition

The service question
A review of President Bush's Guard years raises issues about the time he served
By Kit R. Roane

Last February, White House spokesman Scott McClellan held aloft sections of President Bush's military record, declaring to the waiting press that the files "clearly document the president fulfilling his duties in the National Guard." Case closed, he said.

But last week the controversy reared up once again, as several news outlets, including U.S. News, disclosed new information casting doubt on White House claims.

The U.S. News analysis also showed that during the final two years of his obligation, Bush did not comply with Air Force regulations that impose a time limit on making up missed drills. What's more, he apparently never made up five months of drills he missed in 1972, contrary to assertions by the administration. White House officials did not respond to the analysis last week but emphasized that Bush had "served honorably."

Some experts say they remain mystified as to how Bush obtained an honorable discharge.

HAHA - mystified my ass!

3. John Allen Muhammed received an honorable discharge
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 11:00 PM by htuttle
This, after he was charged with theft, striking an officer, and going AWOL. He served seven days in the brig. After leaving the LA National Guard with his honorable discharge, he went on to become better known as the DC Sniper.

Mystified by Bush's honorable discharge, indeed.

5. I never thought of USN&WR as right wing...
I always thought it moderate-right at best (or worst).
And I much prefer them to Time or Newsweek.

I wonder where these new ones came from.

had their flight status revoked on the same day for failing to take and pass a physical.

Bath's name is blacked out in this copy, but there is another copy without the redaction. It was in F 9/11, and I'm sure it exists somewhere on the web.

9. My ass is mystified that he's still in offce as POTUS.
I understand the corruption that keeps him there, but I just can't accept it. Merka is sure to be attacked, shunned or held accountable for any number of things if Merkins can't dump this criminal impostor.

10. Ya know what woulda been cool? When Clark was challenged
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 11:30 PM by familydoctor
by Jennings at one of the pseudo debates about the AWoL CHARGE he should have actually studied this and compared Bush's record w/ real military regulation. He should have went into a long technical tirade about it. He should have showed that he takes no shit from worms like Jennings and that he has the goods to dish it out to fuckwads like Bush.

Instead he kinda just skirted the issue, trying to play it safe. In so doing, he became a wallflower.

13. He didn't become a wallflower..
he was attacked by pretty much everyone in the media for not defending Bush's honor.

Clark was already working against the perception that he was a hothead. I don't think a tirade would have beneffited him or us at that time. I do think the convention would have been a good time. You have to understand, though, that the media is working against us on this issue.

14. Well....I'm probably one the biggest Clark supporters on DU...
and I say he became a wallflower dammit!

But seriously, I think he would have done better for himself and been more genuine by actually challenging he Pres on the AWOL issue right then and there.

Yes, even conservative sources are now joining truth speakers in asserting and proving that Bush is an AWOL crook who is unfit for the office of the Presidency.
