I have been surprised at the number of posts concerned that President Elect Obama is somehow already compromising the values of the constituency that worked so hard to elect him, vs representing them.
Most of us here have such a desperate desire for change - change from the most criminal regime in U.S. history, that expectations are high for sweeping changes IMMEDIATELY!
Question authority - always! And that includes Barack Obama. Yet cleaning house and untangling the HUGE mess left for the Obama administration will take lots of time. I struggle with being patient too, but when I look at all the new faces on the Hill, all the new judges that will be appointed, all the new committee chairs and department heads --- all with Democratic passions or at the least, leanings; how can we not see real change? We will!
Obama may be to the right of DU, but he is light years to the left of who currently occupies the House on Pennsylvania Ave. ---- and tons smarter.
It is easier for some to assume the worst, but he deserves we assume the best. Lets give President Elect Obama a chance to show us the walk behind the talk once he is officially in power. My guess is 6 months past inauguration day, we will be singing the praises of a DEMOCRATIC President, House, and Senate far more than fearing that they are not doing the work of we who elected them.
We have elected a Democratic President, and once he officially assumes power - that D in front of his name will look bigger and bigger every day. :)
