American people are looking for a guard dog
We Democrats have a rather touching insistance on the notion that what the American people want is a frank discussion of the issues and that they hate negative campeigning and will retaliate against the candidate who attacks his opponant. That is wrong.

Americans a family living in a high crime area who are looking for a guard dog.

The present occupants of that big white dog house in DC are a dimwitted but hyperaggressive rottweiler backed by a pitbull on steroids. They've scared the crap out of their owners who are now looking for a new set of guard dogs before these beasts attack one of the neighbors.

We Democrats have proposed replacing this pair with an imposing and noble German Shepherd with extensive training and experience in protecting his owners from the very sort of miscreants that threaten their neighborhood. He has a shelf full of tropies from guard dog trials. He is teamed up with a handsome, loveable golden retriever who has no attack dog experience but is one of the best damn guide dogs around.

The problem is the buyers have just watched our noble German Shepherd stand aloofly by while a pack of junkyard dogs stole his bone, peed on his doggie bed and knocked his tropies off the wall. They are beginning to think that even though the neighbors might hate them, they're better off with the rabid rottie than taking a chance that the handsome and noble German Shepherd will stand by aloofly while burglars break in and steal the family jewels. We're talking about protecting home and family here--not winning ribbons at a dog show.

If Kerry wants to win this, he has to convince the American people that he is tougher, meaner and smarter than any dog on the block. That means going for the jugular and humiliating his opponent. If he doesn't do this and do it soon we're all going to be in the dog pound.

3. 8/6/01 PDB: "BIN LADEN DETERMINED TO ATTACK INSIDE UNITED STATES"

That dog didn't bark.

Then, instead of going after the 'burglers', he went after some other guy down the street in Iraq.

Bad dog.

4. That's why they'd like a new dog--we gotta convince them to buy ours.
My point is that Bush is a lousy guard dog.

Our buyers aren't experts on dog training. They just want something that's gonna scare off burglars, rapists etc. Kerry is a well trained and disciplined police dog. Gentle and friendly until the right moment for the attack and then ruthless when it comes. The problem is people have to see him on the attack to believe it.

so far he hasn't done it.

5. i'd like to see kerry get much more tough and aggressive.
and take him head on about iraq and the war on terror...just keep pounding him on it, a new broadside everyday until they feel threatened to the point that he has to engage in debate.

if kerry turns and hits them head on...like lieut kerry's swiftboat tactic, i think it can be the key to turning the debate back onto bush and his policies.

6. The Bloodhound type here.
And I can smell that dog of yours can hunt!

Excellent and well-stated apologue, bklyncowgirl. America does want a "top cop" type to serve as commander in chief. That's why Rove & Ko. did all they could to smear JK with the Swift Liars. Enter doubt into his personal record -- even if it's tops -- and there's doub about his abilities in regard to national security. So thanks to 24/7 coverage of the phony issue by Corporate McPravda, many Americans -- perhaps 10-percent -- can't help but thinking of Kerry as being less than a truthful war hero, once considered most capable of serving as commander-in-chief.

Last night, I contributed this ditty of my own (pardon my French). I think we're thinking along the same lines:

Kerry needs to show he's PISSED!

10. Kerry needs a military attack
LOL bklyncowgirl - great post.

Kerry needs to attack. Needs to attack on the war on terror, real soon. Military matters are where he has defined expertise and there are weaknesses in the war in Iraq that can be exploited.

11. some people say the american people do not pay att'n
to all the political crap...thus a repuke admin that literally despises the majority can not only get power but get shooed in 2nd time....maybe the america people know they are too disorganized/distracted to ever control the gov so they iggy it as much as possible(?) iow they don't want any guard dog, hell what they really want is to be left alone (and the systems like education, transport, air safety etc) to work ....
