Demote Shrum
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 08:54 AM by npincus
Would you hire a guy to build you a house if his last 7 houses had collapsed before completion?

I don't think Kerry wants to appear desperate with a staff reshuffle, but I would hope he gets better advice from the new blood on his team.
It looks like Kerry is still a bit tentative to unleash a shit storm on Bush, though he is getting better.

I never understood why Kerry chose a person with a losing track record to guide his campaign.

I still think we can pull this out, I am not a pessimist.

1. I agree
I was very disappointed when I heard Shrum was his choice. What a loser and with a record to prove it.

3. I believe Kerry picked Shrum and Cahill because
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 09:05 AM by secular_warrior
they were instrumental in helping Kerry beat Weld and Dean. Kerry feels comfortable with him like a veteran baseball player who is comfortable playing for a certain manager.

But Shrum (and Cahill to a large degree) have never shown themselves able to 'win the big one' (Shrum is 0-7 in presidential campaigns). They may have beaten democrats and moderate republicans, but never the NATIONAL REPUBLICAN PARTY .. which is a completely different animal. IMO, Cahill and Shrum are like athletes who perform excellently in the playoffs but who always fall apart in the World Series -- the Atlanta Braves of politics.

They simply don't scare national Republicans the way attack dogs like Carville and Begala do. I'm not suggesting that the Clinton people assume power in Kerry's campaign, just that we need tougher people who have shown they can beat real Republicans.

7. Shrum
is an ad guy. He's not the top campaign advisor no matter how much he would like it to be. The Kerry campaign already made moves to marginalize him a few months ago.
