Bush bounce dropped 4 points in six days-Newsweek
I hit pollingreport.com this morning to do some research for an argument I was having over at fark.com with some right wing turd-heads that were saying Kerry would lose in a landslide.

Now, part of the premise of my response was that Dubya can't hold on to a bounce to save his privileged life. Which was easily demonstrable, however that's when I found the latest from Newsweek.

Here are the numbers (I apologize for the formatting)

Approve
Disap-
prove
Don't
Know
9/9-10/04 48 44 8
9/2-3/04 52 41 7
7/29-30/04 45 49 6
7/8-9/04 48 46 6

If you look closely you will note that Bush is no better off today than he was two months ago. 48% approval rating. The only thing he was "accomplished" is moving 2% from Disapprove to Don't Know. That's not much of a sales job. Consider too, Bush got the Smear Boat Vets, his convention, and had to spend all his war chest on ads and such.

To make this more amusing, check out February's numbers
Approval Disapproval Don't know
2/5-6/04 48 45 7

So, Bush spends $200 million, the most expensive campaign in history and has $100 million convention and can't move the needle! Who the fuck in their right mind would consider Bush to be winning this thing?

BTW, if you are curious about my post on Fark.com here it is:

No (I don't think Kerry will lose), and I think that I have a historical precedent for saying that Bush can't hold on to a bounce. Let's have a review:

Jan 2 2002 Bush had an incredible 80% approval rating. By the end of January 2002, he lost 6 points.

Mid July 2003 Bush had a 53% approval rating. By the first of September, that dropped to an anemic 45%.

After the capture of Saddam, Bush jumped back to 53% in mid-December 2003. By the first of March it was back to 46%.

These bounces were caused by real events, the attack of 911, the Iraq war, and the capture of Saddam. Bush's latest bounce was caused by the fact the people gave speeches for three days!

For the doubters, Bush's approval rating on September 2 was 52%, as of today it is 48%. That's his shortest lived bounce yet. Face it, the boy can't keep a bounce.
