Bush MISSED Fla. deadline to file for election!
http://www.sptimes.com/2004/09/11/Decision2004/Did_Bush_camp_err_on_.shtml

"State law sets a Sept. 1 deadline for the governor to certify a list of presidential electors for each party's candidates.

But Sept. 1 was also the day President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were being nominated at their party' convention in New York. Consequently, some of their paperwork did not arrive at state elections headquarters until Sept. 2, a day after Gov. Jeb Bush certified the candidates for president."

...

But Julia Aires, a Green Party activist from Sarasota who has watched Democrats and others battle to keep Nader's name off the ballot, said a minor party probably could not have gotten away with the same thing.

"If the Green Party or the Reform Party had not gotten their names in by Sept. 1 and they said, "You missed the deadline,' I don't think we'd have a leg to stand on," she said. "They would have kept us off the ballot on a technicality if they could have."

Agree... the DNC should be making an issue of this.

Let's write them and tell them to MAKE AN ISSUE OF IT!

3. This is insane.
How can you run an nation when you can't even get your papers in to get your name on the ballot in time, and you are the STANDING PRESIDENT?

C'mon, is this an example to set for kids? Hey! Why isn't your homework turned in? Pres Bush doesn't have to do HIS on time, why should I?

4. Wimpy dems AGAIN
""To keep an incumbent president off the ballot in a swing state the size of Florida because of a technicality, I just don't think would be right," Maddox said."

You just KNOW that if this were reversed, the GOP would have MOBS protesting down in Florida, a lawsuit in progress, and a new slogan already about this issue.

Not saying it's right...just that we Democrats are too NICE sometimes.

:)

6. Where's Jim Baker screaming about the rule of law now?
Oh that's right, the law only applies to the opposition.

Remember, West Palm Beach couldn't have just 5 more minutes to finish the recount. Baker and Harris insisted that election law had to be follow to the letter and there was no room for any flexibility. I think the same should apply here.

BTW: Why can't us evil DUers start filling complaints with our local and state Board of Elections?
