As someone reminded me recently, the worst thing is to do nothing because you can do a little. I've found that a well-timed, carefully written message can make a difference.

What might be even better is mentioning this information to other media outlets covering this hate rally against Kerry on September 12th. Go ahead and point out the past sins, and appeal to people's reason. They need to have their memories refreshed in a big way.

Also, it's absolutely no coincidence that each Bush campaign relies on smears and stirring up hatred. The Bush campaign did the same thing to John McCain in the 2000 primaries. This really ought to kill off the "Bush is a nice guy" myth, but no one in the media seems to be making the connection (yet).
