Tom Daschle to debate John Thune next Sunday on MTP
No link yet. Just heard Russert announce it. The one-hour debate will be part of MTP's "Senate Debate Series."

Daschle needs to whooop this guy!

I hadn't been paying attention. That asshole is gonna keep trying til he gets it right, huh?

I would be pissed off if I were him, when * talked him into giving up his House seat and running against Johnson. What's he been doing since?

3. I can't wait...

...to see this! Thune has nothing to stand on, this has been proven in debates the two have had here in South Dakota this late summer at a farm show in Mitchell, SD. Thune is one of the most ineffectual persons to ever serve in the House, to the point that he quotes Reagan "there is no limit to what you can accomplish when you don't care who gets the credit" during the Thune ads running here in South Dakota.

Don't forget, John Thune is taking a pay cut from his $400,000+ per year as a pharmeceutical company lobbyist to run for the Senate. ;-)

5. Their poll numbers are even ...
Here's a Republican poll from the Republican Washington Times, so you can probably subtract about 5 points from Thune.

Polls show Thune catching up to Daschle in S. Dakota

Polls show Republican John Thune of South Dakota inching closer in his race to unseat Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, a Democrat, with two months remaining until Election Day.
A Republican poll shows Mr. Thune — a former congressman who lost to Sen. Tim Johnson, South Dakota Democrat, in 2002 — pulling slightly ahead of Mr. Daschle, while a Democratic poll shows him at least closing the gap.
The Republican poll, conducted Aug. 24-26, showed Mr. Thune leading 50 percent to 48 percent over Mr. Daschle. The survey of 500 likely voters by Glen Bolger of Public Opinion Strategies had a margin of error of 4.38 percentage points.

6. Wonderful, another chance for Russert to influence a key race
Like MA gov and FL gov in 2002. At least it comes early in the campaign this time, not final week.
