Schwarzenagger history of campaigning for far-right politicians?
I met some Germans who were telling me that Schwarzenegger spent some time campaigning a few years back for a far-right, nationalist politician in southern Germany or Austria. They were surprised that this was not a bigger issue in the Californian non-election. Does anyone know the details behind this?

Don't have a link right now though, but the name "Kurt Waldheim" seems to ring a bell...

2. Not Waldheim
he was elected eons ago ... not a recent election. However there was a bruhaha around their friendship, and arnie/maria celebrated with Waldheim inspite of the negative reactions.

The description given sound like the very far right nationalist candidate in that region who ran 2 or 3 years ago and did well electorally. There are two such politicians which come to mind... one was elected but stepped down after international pressure came down upon the country (his rhetoric was exceptionally fascist); the other one, was also gay - and was assassinated (? do I recall this correctly?) Can't recall the names of either of these politicians.

4. Don't expect any spine from Shriver
In 1996, Maria Shriver was interviewing rape victim Karen Pomer for a Dateline NBC interview. Shriver said, "Karen, I can't believe your boyfriend stayed with you. My husband wouldn't go near me again. He would leave me, because I would be damaged goods."

So this is how the wife of America's only avowed "Nixon Republican" describes him? That is shameful.

Here is a well researched report on Schwarzenegger:

6. well
Schwarzenegger is (or was, don't know for sure) a member of the Austrian conservatives, currently in a coalition with the far-right FPÖ.
Also there were some rumors about him having close ties to the the FPÖ's top politician and asshole Haider.
