This is the Year; Your VOICE Makes The Difference...
I have been asked by the Kerry campaign to work toward increasing the number of Kerry volunteers by contacting organizations typically associated with the Democratic party, and getting the word out that our voices and our volunteering is what will make a difference this year. This is the message I came up with and plan to send out. Please feel free to borrow, improve and forward...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the year when your VOICE matters.
In 2004, we are facing one of the most critical elections ever. Many of us realize the destructive potential of our current president, but the cold hard truth is: the only way to get Bush out of office is to support John Kerry. And the only way we can ensure that Kerry is elected is to actively volunteer and support him. The Kerry/Edwards campaign needs people who can volunteer to make calls, canvass swing voters and encourage people to register and vote. Donations are also a form of support. But even if your time and money are limited, if you can simply help 5 people you know to get to the polls this year to vote for Kerry, you will have made a difference.
Please take a moment to volunteer with the Kerry/Edwards campaign @ http://johnkerry.com/VolunteerNow
or, if you would simply like to share information about Kerry with people you know, go to http://www.kerrysupport.com/issues.html
Whatever you are able to do, this is the year, and this is the time.
1. Not much point in my doing that
Since the Kerry campaign long ago conceded my state -- Alabama -- to Bush. Not that I blame them. We don't even have a competitive Democrat running for Congress where I live.
It's pretty fucking depressing.
But it sure seems like only people who live in swing states get to participate in the presidential election.
2. Even if you don't live in a swing state, you can travel to one.
I live in NH and we get Mass. Volunteers all the time. Florida is near you, isn't it. Could you go for a weekend? How about phone banking from home, letters to the editors of Florida Newspapers. There are a ton of thing you can do, if this election is important to you.
3. Contact Move-On.com. They have meetups especially for phone
banking. We are working hard here in Kentucky (but also going over to Ohio) so that we can rebuild the Democratic Party here for this race and for the future. Maybe you could start Stand and Be Counted group. It is a program to bring three new voters for Kerry to the polls. We have to start somewhere; we owe it to the world for letting this idiot steal the last election.
4. Where to Send???
I've identified some groups to send the message to, but I'd like help. So far:
NOW groups
NARAL groups
Gay/Lesbian groups
Society of Friends groups
UUA groups
Teamster groups
NAACP groups
NPHC groups
If you can think of any other groups of people whom I can probably encourage to actively volunteer for the campaign, please let me know...
5. I'm a Kerry volunteer and have sort of been doing this on my own.
The best responses I have gotten are in either announcing an upcoming event or reporting an event I have attended. (check the NH site in here) Try posting these as they happen.
