My mother says Kerry's going to win ....
because she's seen more K-E signs than B-C signs in the Republican-leaning affluent suburb my parents live near.

OK, it's not scientific, and it may ultimately mean nothing, but I wanted to share the results of her "straw poll." :)

1. i've been hearing a lot of the same thing...

(kerry signs in traditional republican enclaves).

i see by your avatar you may reside in pennsylvania (does your mother as well, and -- if so -- what is the republican suburb?)

cheers :)

10. Is Lancaster Township in Lancaster County?
I see they voted for Bush 4 years ago by a more than 2 to 1 margin. :puke:

2. I have seen the same thing where I am too.
More and more K/E signs. More Ken Salazar signs too.

6. Same here - 4 - 1 Kerry in a conservative area.
Of course I am keeping track of the accomplices to murder who are putting up "Bloodthirsty/Killer signs in their yard.

7. Also in . . .

. . . Upper Arlington, OH - - the relatively affluent Columbus suburb where Ohio State is located. My grandparents, who are sadly rabid right-wingers, are surrounded by K/E yard signs in their own neighborhood. This is an *excellent* indication of where things really stand.

11. great--but not to be picky, OSU is not in UA. It is about 15 mins.
away in a rather seedy part of Columbus. UA is very definitely a nice Repug. close-in suburb where a lot of well-paid faculty and other professionals live.

13. Ohio
I drove up to Akron today from Columbus (2 hours each way on I-71) and saw 7 Bush stickers and only 2 Kerry. One of the Kerry was my cousins car and the other was a West Virgina liscence plate.

But, just yesterday, I saw 4 Bush signs/stickers and 4 Kerry signs/stickers driving through Columbus.

In reality, these type of polls aren't very scientific, but fun to do none the less.

14. In my Portland neighborhood
you simply would not believe how many Kerry/Edwards signs there are. They are EVERYWHERE. I used to go for walks and wonder who was liberal and who was not. Well, now I know. There are two Bush families and dozens and dozens and dozens of Kerry families. Yee-haw!

Sure, it's Portland, but the intensity this symbolizes is a good thing for our side.
