How do I get hold of a real live person working on the Kerry campaign?
I want to help. www.johnkerry.com doesn't help. It really is terrible. I click on link after link, hoping to find a list of meetings, people, and/or phone numbers. None of that. I did find this page: http://volunteer.johnkerry.com so I "joined" (actually did this a long time ago). Also clicked on the "volunteer directory", which turned out to be a not-very-helpful list of names, their towns and zip codes. If I'm having trouble, I suspect others are too. :(

2. If your Congressman is a Dem, call his office
Most congressional staffers are working on the campaign. If you don't have a Dem congressman, how about your state Rep or Senator?

It's a waste of time contacting the national campaign, You need to find your local Dems.

3. you can also go to meetup.com
Here's the link.

http://dfa.meetup.com/

On the opening page you can enter your zip code and find local groups that have meetings and volunteer for all kind of different things like registering voters, phone banking, canvasing, etc.

Thanks, and good luck!
