If we let Bush keep the "I'm tough on terra" issue, we will lose.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If we don't find a way to pull that rug out from under his ass, it's over.

I can't understand why WE didn't capitalize on the 911 nausea fest that Bush called his convention? Why we didn't - and why we aren't going after Bush hard on his failure to protect America that day is baffling.

Imagine if a Democrat were in office when 911 took place? Do you think for one second that Rove/Bush and the junta wouldn't be all over it?! Especially if we used this as a disgusting prop for our convention?

We let opportunity after opportunity slide on by and wonder why we lose elections? :wtf:

Ok, we haven't lost YET, but polls indicate today that "Terrorism" has superceeded the Economy as THE MOST IMPORTANT issue in this election. So do we let Bush continue to "pretend" he's fighting an effective war on Terror? Why do we let him call 911 a success? :eyes:

Shit folks, the clock is ticking ...

This article is but a sliver of an idea of what were passing up on:
It's frustrating as hell to watch the Democrats run a lame campaign again. I can see WHY were behind in the polls, why on earth can't the Kerry campaign get a grip here?

http://www.strike-the-root.com/4/bovard/bovard2.html

Prime example of what I'm talking about:

Perpetual Wars, Endless Enemies

...

A week after the 9/11 attacks,Bush proclaimed he wanted Osama bin Laden "dead or alive" and made bin Laden the poster boy for the war on terrorism. Six months later, when asked about Osama at a press conference, Bush groused that bin Laden is "just a person who's now been marginalized" and insisted: "I just don't spend that much time on him, to be honest with you." From the initial targeting of al Qaeda, the enemies list expanded to include Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Somalia, and Libya, as well as an array of private groups.

Do you see the quotes I highlited above? Do you NOT think that contrasting his quotes on Osama in a campaign commercial might be politically effective? Both comments were made on camara!

Here's one idea for an effective/quickie commercial:

We run an ad opening with this question.

Q: "Is George Bush "really" tough on Terror?"

We show his first dead or alive statement then say: "George Bush says he's tough on terror, but in reality, six months after 911, President Bush forgot all about Osama Bin Laden."

Show the second statement where Bush says of Osama "I don't spend that much time on him" then air a banner that says "Never Forget" (because they love to say that shit over and over again.) End by saying: Vote for John Kerry, he hasn't forgotten Osama Bin Laden, he will fight a tough effective war on terror.
blah blah blah ...

We've got so much information to work with, and we let it slip right on by ... I found this article with the quote above in about 60 seconds.

GRRRR! /rant

ohhhhmmm, ooohhhhmmm, ooohhhmmm.

1. I don't think Kerry should cede it to Bush, either
but keep in mind these polls were post-RNC, so that influenced the results.

4. 9/11
The Democrats should have a simple message about 9/11:

The worst attack on our nation's soil happened on Bush's watch, while he was on vacation. He ignored warnings and instead cleared brush.

He's shamelessly defiled 3,000 lives for his political campaign, and he should be ashamed of himself. He has nothing else to run on, so he runs on the most catastrophic intelligence failure in this country's history. It's time for him to go."

Period. End of Story.

2. Send any and all such ideas to the Kerry campaign; they really do pay
attention! Send them quick e-mails with a clear subject line, a brief overview of the info, and a link to more detailed info.
They are listening - contact them!

5. Besides Bush lying about.....
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 07:40 PM by dennis4868
WMD and a link between sadaam and 911/al Qaeda and not being held accountable for it by the media, congress, and Kerry, this is the other issue that makes me so angry.

911 happened under Bush's watch and then he struts around as the guy who can best protect us and uses 911 as a reason to vote for his reselection? If a Dem tried to pull this shit it would not work because the media simply would not let a dem get away with as they should....but not with Bush!

12. I know, I know...*sigh* The media have been so complicit in putting

forth all the scripted little ReThuglican talking points as though they are news, or fact, or Gospel...and the sheeple eat it up.
How the HELL can the administration that:
- Ignored the warnings from the Clinton administration
- Ignored the intelligence
- Ignored the CIA director and the counter-terror-gurus
- Ignored the print staring them in the face: "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside the U.S."
- Allowed 9/11 to happen on THEIR WATCH
- Failed to take appropriate action immediately once the initial attack was known
- Failed to go after the people responsible

expect to keep us SAFE???? WTF??? I don't get it. I really really don't get how people can be so fucking stupid and gullible and completely free of independent thought.

6. I find posts like yours energizing!
Some of us have been saying this for a month or longer, and have been criticized. The ones who called us handwringers are now freaking out and turning on Kerry. There is nothing wrong with encouraging the candidate to get tough, and by now it should be obvious to all that it should have happened long ago. That is not the same as calling him names, saying he will lose ,etc. So I salute you for trying to be constructive in these trying times. PLEASE, Kerry campaign listen to mzmolly!:) By the way, did you send this to Kerry? It wouldn't hurt, as long as you've put all the work in. We're all feeling the heat, and I really think our only choice is to try to force the campaign to hit back hard. That's where I prefer to put my energy.

10. I've sent numerous suggestions and made calls of this nature to the
campaign. I may try again with the quote I have above? But, it seems that they are listening, but not acting?

Our window of opportunity is shrinking sadly.

Thanks for the kind words :hi:

7. I think the media has made war on terra the big issue...deep down
people are worried about other things...to me I would think if the war on terra was so important, why isn't New York the one to be voting for bush if he is so good at terra, it seems to be the one that is most likely to be hit....it looks like NY is very Kerry.

8. According to condi this day "the American people can see what
we have done in the war against terrorism".
EXACTLY!
We can see that OBL is still on the lose.
We can see the growing terrorist treats and actions around the world.
We can see that they have not influence in Pakistan.
We can see that no one terrorist has been tried and convicted.
We can see that the AG's office has in fact blown more cases than they have prosecuted.
We can see that more mistakes were made in Iraq than successes.
We can see that not one recommendation of the 9/11 commissions has been enacted.
We can see that every attempt to get to the bottom of the problem has been fought by this administration.
We can see that the Homeland Security Dept., that they are so proud of, was opposed by them.
We can see that agents, whose jobs and responsibilities included finding WMDs, have been outed and discredited.
We can see that everyone who tried to alert this administration of the coming danger has been discredited.
We can see that not one person has accepted any responsibility whatsoever for clear and obvious dereliction of duty.
We can see that no action is taking place on the attempts to kill American legislators by the use of poisonous materials.
We can see that no prosecutions are forthcoming in an investigation into Israeli spying.
It is absolutely clear that this administration has not intention of protecting the citizens of this nation, and is pursuing a hidden agenda for their personal rewards.

9. This is basic stuff, and its SO frustrating.
I don't know if its the echo chamber, or what.

I really have to believe that Kerry and Edwards are laying low until October. It would be horrific if thus far is all they've got.
